450 mm wafer

Over a decade ago, the semi conductor industry shifted to 300 mm wafer technology (from an obviously smaller size). Since then attempts to increase wafer size have been slow. Too costly. Estimated CAPEX around 12-15B$. Who will foot the bill is the 12-15B$ question. ASML Holding AMAT are among equipment manufacturers. In the past they invested tonincrease wafer size. Inconclusive if they recovered investment. So now Intel stepping up.

Could be dome delays. What do the pundits here think?

As an investor if this news gains momentum and the AMATs get taken to the woodshed, opportunity.
