Is that the group that presents the biggest risk? Is there another profile that realistically represents a greater risk? The policy should be color blind, and religiously blind, but practical.

Actually....No. Everyone should go through the detectors and have luggage Xrayed. If the buzzer buzzes, they get a closer inspection/search. Then, in addition, we should profile.
Most Muslims that I've seen don't have "MUSLIM" stamped on their foreheads. I would hope that whatever profile is used would result in a higher proportion of Muslim men aged 18-50 with recent ties to foreign countries being searched than old ladies who are members of the Daughters of the American Revolution. That said, lots of other pieces go into the profile and trying to limit searches to Muslims only would not be very effective.
