What in God’s Name!!!
Bring this kid into the national team asap. With the new substitution rule, and our home grown tullay baaz, i see good things for the team.
Pakistani batsman Shahzad Malik, who has had two incredibly fruitful domestic first-class seasons recently, turned in an even more mind-boggling batting performance while playing for the Langleybury Cricket Club in the Hertfordhsire county in England, earlier this month.
The sport.telegraph website reported on Thursday (yesterday): "Quadruple hundreds are rare enough in any form of cricket, but imagine hitting one in 36 overs. That was the amazing feat accomplished by Langleybury CC’s Shahzad Malik earlier this month during a cup match against Middlesex Tamils.
He is already under consideration for senior side for some time and this inning (regardless of the opposition) will boost his chances to play for pakistan in near future, he will have to compete with Bazid Khan and Hasan Raza. Age is not on his side and he should definitely be given a chance in next year or so (he is 28).
abay baola howa hay kia? even if this Shehzad is half as good in other games, then even Razzaq will have hard time staying in the team and you are talking about competing with nobody i.e. Bazid and Hasan Raza.
Not sure if I heard of him before since there are so many players performing in the domestic season, so did a search on him.
He wasn't very impressive during the tour of Namibia and Zimbabwe A sides this year. As captain mentioned earlier that he scored 20 runs (16, 4) against Zimbabwe A. He scored 8 runs against Namibia in 2 matches (2, 6*). However his domestic performance has been impressive this year but then again there are alot of players who are tremendous in the domestic circuit. Anywas this is his performance in domestic circuit this year;
can anyone get the scoreboard of this match??? i wana see how fast he got to 50, 100, 200, 300 and also 400.. man he didn't get tired.. i wonder how big the ground was...but anyways, lets hope he gets a call to play for our national team. we need some more big hitters...
I only know that langleybury scored 563-2 batting first in 45 overs. Shahzad came after the fall of first wicket and scored 403. Another guy Peter Kerr scored 100 not out.
Also there was a previous record of 561-2 which was broken due to shahzad's effort.
Bury batted first against the Tamils and amassed 563-2 in their 45 overs. Easily the highest score at the Hunton Bridge Ground, with a second wicket partnership of 513.
Peter Kerr scored 102*…oh and Shahzad Malik, going in first wicket down chipped in with 403 (yes that’s right 403) from 137 balls received, in 2 hours 31 minutes at the crease including 38 x 6’s.
The previous highest team score for the Bury was 380-3 against Totternhoe in 1998, when Paul Reynolds scored the the only score in excess of 200 by a Bury batsman (202*) before today.
The previous highest partnership for any wicket was the 291 scored by Nigel Ilott and Asad Khan ( who sat with his pads on as next man in today during the 513 partnership)
The Tamils’ reply totalled 234, when they were all out in the 44th over. They lost their first wicket to a smart one-handed catch at slip off the bowling of David Best - the catcher, who else, Shaz.
So the winning margin was 329 runs. Margins of victory do not seem to have been held over the years, but I think it is a safe bet to say this was the biggest winning margin in the history of the club.
Whatever his performances were against Namibia, thi is a remarkable feat. 403 runs in one innings is no joke!! Should be tried in one or two inconsequential one dayers as an opener alongwit Afridi.
