Thursday, June 21, 2007

KARACHI: A power plant will be installed in Dhabeji by the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board and a Swedish power generation company. The plant is expected to generate 40 MW and is owned under a public-private partnership. A renowned Swedish company will invest US$100 million in the project. The plant is expected to begin operation in 2 years. The KWSB is purchasing 21 MW from the KESC for building the Dhabeji pumping station. After the power plant is installed, the KWSB will be able to save on its power spending. It will also earn millions of rupees by selling extra power to the KESC. Power from the new plant will also cost less than going KESC rates. app

Now this is some investment I like :smooth: at least we will get some extra electric power… now who really will be getting this electricity and would the governments be interfering in the rates a la Hub Power?
