virtually all of these points are either:
1) not embarrassing because they are a function of being the wealthiest nation and having the largest economy in the history of the world.
2) not embarrassing in general.
3) simply false.

some frustrated guy wrote this piece for enjoyment and benifit of some special type of groups who search internet round the clock just to find any news which can be used
to propagate negative image of america. that is it , now most serious matter which never have been compiled is the cases of such crimes in india ,pakistan,bangladesh , most of the cases go unreported specially in primary classes .

I think your reading to much into it.

This is more light hearted chatter, then an actual serious critique of the US.

That being said, there is something to be embarrassed of and ripe for criticism. I mean, the most obese, highest incarceration rate, education at the Primary to high school level, these things are from what I have heard, pretty abysmal in comparison to other industrialized nations. Not to mention the Health Care system in the US, which although not mentioned, is pretty pathetic.

And I do think elections are too expensive, and could be streamlined. Isnt election finance reform a good thing?

but hey not every statistics is from that website end ofwhatever .. there are many which are by huffingtonpost, global issues, wikipedia e.t.c

most of them are true and we already know about them!!
its just shows that they claim to be the greatest nation ever, land of oppurtunities and freedom, sadly the reality is kinda far away from that, they have got tons of issues, just like other developing countries, how abt they resolve their issues first before pointing fingers and intervening in other countries.

there is plenty of room for improvement in many areas. as for healthcare, US healthcare is by far the best in the world by a large margin. the problem is inadequate coverage. negotiating that trade-off is extremely complicated given the particular evolution of the healthcare system in the US.

You are missing the point rangoli. its not just about the correctness of the statistics. its about the list itself. it looks more in favor of USA than against it. it is an "elitist" list which appears to be making fun of poor countries.
It is rather a funny facebook list which is meant to be shared for giggles among teenagers and not taken seriously.

Well regardless of source and the motives behind it, this does serve some purpose. I for one am of the opinion that your enemies can teach you more of yourself then your friends. Your enemies highlight your flaws, and thus force you to improve. Your friends not so much.

You said that we hold ourselves to a higher standard. When you hold yourself to higher standards, that implies that your flaws also a have greater weight. If we truly hold ourselves to higher standards, then we must also judge our flaws by a higher standard. So things that are minor flaws among others, are major and embarrassing flaws for us. You can not have it both ways. If you hold yourself to higher standard, you also open yourself to criticism for even the most minor of flaws.

The problem with US health care is not with the quality of care, but with access to that care. We all know this.
The embarrassing part is that we are not all covered. This would be excusable in a developing country, but not one who holds the standards the US does.
I think it is embarrassing that people die for lack of access to preventable health care. Or people have to compromise on their quality of life for a lack of affordability of basic meds. Again, this is the US, yet countries like Cuba have better coverage and care? You not embarrassed by that?
All this while the Afghan war is costing BILLIONS! Thats embarrassing.

The cost of elections is an issue, and an embarrassing one. The thriving secular democracy is in the hands of corporate interest and lobby groups with deep pockets.
When politicians sacrifice the their mandate for lobby groups, just for the sake of donations, then there is something very wrong with the system.

Super power embarrassments should be internal, but in the case of the US, those embarrassments can have a global impact. Example, that US politicians wallow among defense contractors, means more needless war and conflict in far flung areas of the world.

Also, as you said, we hold ourselves to higher standards. Not very many countries can say that. Iran with its skewed elections and corruption can be excused for its failings because it never claimed to be a shining example to the rest of the world. American exceptionalism means your failing cannot be excused in the same way.

You cannot tell the world your somehow better then all of them, and then get upset when they point out your flaws.

there are people that post up this stuff and then live in their US homes/apartments, paying for their US utilities, the lights, AC, the heat that work most all of the time instead of going off every morning or every evening or for days, paying their clean US water and being protected by that good ol US national security.
