40 days?

So whats all this fuss about 40 days after the birth?

I understand that due to postnatal bleeding one cant pray salah or recite Quran, but then I have heard that one cant go out as the woman and baby both are vulnerable to creatures like jinn and stuff…never read about it somewhere but heard it from aunties..to me it sounds strange!!!

I googled it but didnt find anything.

Have also read from Chinese Medicine websites that women whi just had a baby should be in complete bed rest for 30 days, should always wear socks and not watch TV or use any digital media to rest the eyes…

I understand the need to rest after the baby birth…but isnt it really difficult to stay home for so long? or be in bed all the time?!

^ yeah, i wanna know too. i am not a stay at home for 40 days kind of gal and i hopefully will be in good enough position to be out and about. it'll be spring/early summer for cryin' out loud! we don't get nearly enough of that in Toronto so imma soak up every last ray of sunshine i can.
