No word if children poked the bodies with sticks while their parents danced.
make sure you update us when you hear anything new...aw'right.
There's an important distinction to be made here: those four were not hostages. I'm not minimizing their deaths or any such thing, but likewise I would not like to see people use a false claim to dehumanize Iraqis. I'm sure your title is an innocent mistake, but I already in the short time this story's been out heard someone try that angle.
The bodies were found buried near the site of the initial attack. Presumably they were buried out of respect rather than concealment (why hide bodies that are next to a burned out convoy?). No CPA or military official has yet claimed they were hostages. The 'mutilation' is not necessarily maliciously inflicted, the report we have lean in favor that it was caused by the initial attack and possible sloppiness in burying them.
One question I have about all of this is why did it take so long to discover the bodies when they were so near the original site? Do we really have so few personnel in Iraq that we can't walk (combat) and chew bubble gum (supplemental duties) at the same time?
Sorry, UTD, this isn't aimed at you.. I couldn't talk back to the person that really annoyed me with this so I just posted my rant here :)
Seems like mutilating dead bodies is what the iraqi freedom fighters are good for.
interesting .....
According to Al Jazeera 1 Italian hostage has been killed. Hope it is not true. It is against Islamic principles of war to take hostages, much less kill them. Assuming these are considered prisoners (of war or otherwise) they still should be treated humanely and certainly not killed.
it is not against islam to take prisoners of war, and yes they should be trated humanely, but it is ALLOWED to kill some prisoners of war, and it has been allowed by the sunnah of the prophet SAW.
^ Does this sunnah allow for the kidnap and killing of civilians working for private firms? When is it allowed to kill prisoners? As punishment, retirubtion or to affect policy change?
