Re: 4+ gap
Me and my sis have a 9 year gap. Her and my brother have a 10 year gap.
We have a brilliant relationship....maybe because my sister is so mature. We go out together, shopping etc... I'm 29 and she is 21...we've never had a problem with the age gap.
Re: 4+ gap
The older of my two brothers is only 13 months younger than me. But the youngest is 5.5 years younger. My youngest brother used to feel left out when he was little. Now my two brothers are very close.
2-5 year age gap seems pretty common in my family. I see a lot of 3-4 year gaps in the more recent generation.
Hubby and his older brother are 4 years apart. Their younger sis is 12 years younger than hubby (and 16 years younger than the older bro!). Hubby was picked on a lot by his older bro when he was little. Now his older brother is much more caring and kind (and was especially attentive to his little sis).
The one thing I've noticed is that with a gap of 4+ years, children tend to socialize a lot more with people outside of their home. That's in general not a bad thing, but I do notice that in my family, a lot of those kids tend to be the ones that, as they get older, "stray" from the values that their parents have and are more invested in being like their friends. So it's just something to be aware of and keep in mind as you raise them.

My sister and I are 18 months apart. After us, my mom had wanted more children but never happen until 12 years later. She was pregnant with my brother. Right after him she had my other brother. Both just 13 months apart! Its great. I love having two little brothers. Im turning 20 in November and older brother is 6. Its great, they have someone to look up to! They become so protective of myself and my sister its very cute! They threaten my mom to move in with me when i get married and as for my mom. Its much easier on her she has the help of my sister and I.
The negativity probably is that there are like they get the extra spoiling from my sister and I so its kinda harder on my parents to disipline and stuff. Other than that its great! My mom wount cry as much when my sister and I leave cause then shes going to have my brothers. ALL TO HERSELF :)
