Re: 4 Days of ISSB & 40 Days of NCC

Yaar it was interesting to see every one wearing Abba ki kirai ki chaddi ....

Re: 4 Days of ISSB & 40 Days of NCC

And NCC in Nishtar park and then stopping by the bus stop to show off in front of Islamic college girls was a motivation for NCC.

Can't believe I actually lived those days .... not always proud but definitely a memory.

Re: 4 Days of ISSB & 40 Days of NCC

I did my 1st ISSB for PAF in 1999 at Gujranwala and then second ISSB in 2001 Kohat,
I was recommended for 111GDP in 1999, but was not recommended in 2001 for 113GDP. *
*I did my NCC in H-9 college Islamabad as a part of students living abroad. That was a fun experience for 40 days.It was the very last NCC course in pakistan.

I could never forget my very 1st interview at gujranwala which lasted for about 48 min compared to my other group member whose interview was no more than 7-10 min long.
Golden memories of my life

Re: 4 Days of ISSB & 40 Days of NCC

Muali, would you like to share those questions (during interview) with us?

Re: 4 Days of ISSB & 40 Days of NCC

Muali, why didnt you join the 111GD(P)? And i thought once having been reccomended by the ISSB if one is not able to join a course they can defer to the next course(s) and are not reqd to take the ISSB again?

Where were you living when you had to go for the NCC to Isl? Lots of my seniors used to go but unfortunately it was shut down long before i may have been eligible. I think NCC was a very good phenomenon, it was another one of Nawaz Sharif’s crazy decisions to end the NCC training. Imagine how useful NCC may have been during last years quake! I still think it should be re-raised with improvements.

As for ISSB, do share more of what went there. :k:

Re: 4 Days of ISSB & 40 Days of NCC

yah why didnt you join GDP?

My NCC was at Sir Syed College, Rawalpindi. It was the month of june/july and in the middle of ramazan. And we all fasted while parading around all day. We had the most fun at the firing range where we started shooting at stuff below the targets like tin paint cylinders and bricks.

Re: 4 Days of ISSB & 40 Days of NCC

nah... ohh.. it just hit me . i never did NCC..ooppssy daisy

Re: 4 Days of ISSB & 40 Days of NCC

Some great memories from NCC, we were the last badge to graduate in 1998. i dont think they had this program afterwards,so loved those 20 points it gave me.

Re: 4 Days of ISSB & 40 Days of NCC

well i walked out from my medical test in karachi.....
one of the doctor advised me that it wasnt a good idea for me to go for flying He told me i should switch over to CAE....cuz in 3 years time my eye sight will get weaker and i wont be able to fulfill my dream i'll be grounded as there is medical check up every six months at the academy for aviation cadets.
As fas as the validation of ISSB ..its good for one year. And i did my 1st ISSB in 99.
In 2001 ,113GDP course quota wasnt filled , PAF sent me a letter offering me to apply for 113GDP.

Re: 4 Days of ISSB & 40 Days of NCC

Every single moment of my ISSB still in my memory as if it happened a few days back.
I wanted to be a fighter pilot ever since i was a kid i never thought of any other field cuz i was confident that i wud get in.... but its life...
anyway my 1st ISSB at Gujranwala was really fun the guys i met there were extremely friendly ..... and there were only 32 people in that ISSB batch.....
i've been in touch with one of group member(Chest # 7 )as we wernt allowed to call each other with our real names during ISSB so we were allotted chest numbers mine was 11...
anyway
*the last time i spoke with him, he was stationed as a flight lieutenant at kamra .....flying F-7........lucky man.........sighhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh *

Re: 4 Days of ISSB & 40 Days of NCC

yaar i lied on one question and stuck to my point ... and he knew i was lying and so he was having fun by asking me over n over again the same stupid questions....
he asked me if i ever watched any porns...and i said NO. *
*Man he laughed and said its gonna be fun and started asking me random questions

he made me do push ups cuz he said he wanna know wat i've learnt from my NCC and as i started he said....opps i forgot can u start over again....
he made me do ...21 the first time and 25 the second time.....while i was doing my push ups he was asking me mathematical questions.....
he made me do a speech on advantages and disadvantages of pornography........

Re: 4 Days of ISSB & 40 Days of NCC

Muali,
:hehe: This is the fun with ISSB, always great stories, but i’m sure everyone takes all the crap in best spirits.
In this above interview you mentioned, was this one from 111 or 113?

It’s sad how many with a passion to fly end up in other careers…but like it’s said, God willed for another profession for you, so dont take it hard, you can pursue the passion in many other ways, the passion cant die.
btw, it may be good to know for you that those reccomended for GD(P) are among the highest ranking reccomendees of ISSB, because there’s a certain minimum performance ranking at ISSB below which one cant be reccomended for GD(P). This is something narrated by none less than former Air Chief Pervaiz Mehdi Qureshi.

Re: 4 Days of ISSB & 40 Days of NCC

i had a great time with NCC :). it was cool cause you did get a different attitude of respect from people when wearing the uniform. I remember the laundry guy wouldnt take money for dry cleaning it.

that was what.. 9 years ago. i wonder if the army folks command that kind of respect now.

i was really really bad at marching, but I was taller than most kids so every other time they would place me right at the front of the alpha squad. then i’d percolate right down to the last row of hero :grumpy:. That happened atleast two or three times cause sometimes they would forget who i was.

Hero squad didnt march, we ran and shouted “WHO ARE YOU?? JUNGJOO!”. That made a strong impact on how I saw myself, for several years all my passwords were Jungjoo.

Re: 4 Days of ISSB & 40 Days of NCC

Lets talk more about NCC, mine happened during Feb 1997 and then during Sep 1998, Degree College Jhelumwas the place. We were the last badge of NCC that graduated and if i remember correctly NCC is not part of College experience since Sep. 1998 in Rawalpindi board. We were all suppose to get there at 8 in the morning and i remember from 8am to 12:30pm we all had to practice
MARCHING, it was pain in the ass, but everyone enjoyed it, here we were alot of us came from schools wehich were labeleed as Maami Daddi bacha school and they were exposed to the the harsh manly envirenment of Muchal Soubeydaars and Jawaans of Pak Army. I think we got divided into sqads/teams
of 20-40 people and we had to practice Marching like soliders, every team had atealst 2 or 4 people who were just there to make fun of everyone’s way of marching and to un-obey the instructors and this way they got rest of the poeple in alot of trouble, but even when someone like those guys wehn they were doing something funny or making fun of instructor or fellow team member and they got rest in trouble, i think at the end of day everyone enjoyed it and had a laugh about it.

After the Lunch/Namaaz break there used to be the other half of the day when we didnt practice marching but we were all sat down, group of like 300 guys and were given lectures on different things such as discipline etc this was the most fun part of the day, this was eventually time for alot of guys to give tough time
to the instructors. The instrucctors who made us sweat during the day, made us crawl through mud, made us do Pushups, made us do the rounds of the ground for the first 4 hours. now was on the mercy of the students. whatever
they said was taken into wrong and mostly sexaul context by students and all that made group of 300 students burst into laughters and instructors would also couldnt help themselves from enjoying those bunters.

Those 40 days were undoubtably the best time during my FSC days, and i charish them all.

Re: 4 Days of ISSB & 40 Days of NCC

Thanks for sharing this Nikema :)

Too bad NCC has been disbanded. I think the present govt should reraise the NCC asap.

Re: 4 Days of ISSB & 40 Days of NCC

yeah, i wish that tradition was carried on, there was so much of learning/ team work experience that everyone got out of it. More important was the fact that it brought people together from different backgrounds, anyone who has been to colleges in pakistan knows that three is always a drift between
students who go to college from GovT High school and students who come from Private/Ellite schools…some people are good at bridging that gap but for majority of people it was NCC that made them to get to know students from group other than their own.

One of the funiest thing that happened in our group that some how couple of students manage to hide one of the instructors cap, all the stuents in the group knew who did it, but no one wanted to be the person who leaks this out…the group as whole suffered the consequences, we were made to do extra work, run extra laps of the whole ground, were made to crawl through Mud and then made to climb the trees…all to break anyone in the group, who will tell the instructor about the people who were involved in the “Toopi Drama”, but no one gave up and at the end of the day we just returned the cap to the Instructor by putting it on his Bicycle…these were the kindaa things that brought students really close and friendships were made through this NCC experience, weather it was finding some body to play cricket with or getting to know someone who had some movies in his collection, or getting some “Special type of MOVIES” from someone who you hardly knew before NCC

Re: 4 Days of ISSB & 40 Days of NCC

after i did my 2nd year my dad confirmed it from pakistan embassy about the NCC .
Year 1999 was the last year for NCC training in Pakistan.
We did our last NCC training in June 1999 as a students living in abroad. We stayed in H-9 college islamabad during our training and we werent allowed to leave the premises before 430pm. Most of the guy quit after a week of training.------------->Losers
I remember that we use to start our day at 7am.Our subedar was really strict,7am sharp was the fall in time...anyone late for even 5 min use to do roll over of the whole freaking field.I was my company commander and this subedar was super mean to me...anyway i was just having my life time fun so i didnt really care of this meaness... After 4 hour straight drill
At 11am it was our break time in which we were served with lemonade and some other red Sharbat. yummmm.. after that... 1 hour class time where we took our notes learned about basic military tactics, havaldar's stories and learnt about our good ole Rifel G3 and after that 2 hour of more hectic drill...
230pm was the time when ever body use to run.....i'm talking about literally ran towards the mess hall, but we wernt allowed to get inside the mess hall with our uniform on. sucked big time...
4pm was Tea time........
Crickter Azhar Mehmood use to come three times a week to do his some sort of practice with group of ppl in H-9 college ground where we use to do our drill in the morning.
After that at 5 o clock we use to go to Peshawar Mor( corner) to enjoy our rest of the evening.
Extremely fun time.
