4 da Car Savy ppl out there {Mitsubishi Vs Toyota}

:help:

i recently switched my job n wid all da other stuff m also being asked to get a car in range of 10-12 lacs.
Now da problem is dat k i wanna hv either Mitsubishi Lancer or Chevrolet OPTRA but my dad is totally against them, he sayz these cars r :nook: n their resale is peanuts. In his opinion i should go 4 Toyota or Honda. I don’t want to hv them coz s they r in demand nowadayz i hv 2 wait around 5-6 months for their delivery + they r assembled in pakistan so most prolly 40% parts of em would b made in pakistan while Lancer n OPTRA both r imported.
Plz share wid m da pros n cons of these modelz coz m 1 of those ppl who can’t even identify a Lambourgini frm da lot :bummer:
ur help wud b highly appreciated
:salute:

Re: 4 da Car Savy ppl out there {Mitsubishi Vs Toyota}

I have heard that cars assembled in Pakistan 'kharak jati haiN' .. is it really true? And I didn't know Chevy was selling cars in Pakistan.

In any case, Honda and Toyota have a wide range of cars, which one exactly do you want to compare the lancer and optra against?

With patrol prices going through the roof, buy a smaller car, with a smaller engine and high gas mileage, otherwise you will feel the pain every time you pay more at the gas pump.

Re: 4 da Car Savy ppl out there {Mitsubishi Vs Toyota}

I would rather take a Pakistani-built Civic or Corolla over a Korean-built Chevy.

The Lancer is likely to be the most reliable and well-built of them all.

One advantage to the Honda and Toyota is that with them being so common in Pakistan and having components made in Pakistan, they should be cheaper to repair.

Re: 4 da Car Savy ppl out there {Mitsubishi Vs Toyota}

I would go 4 a Honda (vti).. defenitly..:k:

Re: 4 da Car Savy ppl out there {Mitsubishi Vs Toyota}

There is no comparision junk like Chevy and Mits with the gems like Honda and Toyota.

Go for either Corolla or Civic VTi, there are no other trouble free and smooth ride vehicals on this planet than these two (in that genre).

Re: 4 da Car Savy ppl out there {Mitsubishi Vs Toyota}

Bear in mind that pakistani assembles Toyotas and Hondas are not reputed to be as high-quality as the ones in the North American or European markets. Their engines would be very good and reliable but the rest of the package - perhaps not.

I still think they have the advantage over the Chevy and Mitsubishi because domestically assembled cars are cheaper to maintain.

Re: 4 da Car Savy ppl out there {Mitsubishi Vs Toyota}

If the car is to provided by your Company and the fuel bill also taken care of by the Company, then what difference does it make that the resale value is poor or fuel economy is high? Even if the car breaks down, the Company will take care of it, though for a 12 lac car, I would imagine the reliability will be slightly better than your average run-of-the-mill Suzuki Alto etc.

Just get a car that you like and that you enjoy driving. I have not driven a Mits or Chevy lately, but neither companies or cars are as good compared to Honda or Toyota. Then again, if wait time is long, then just get one of your personal favs.

ps. If you don't like the car later, just switch jobs once again! :D

Re: 4 da Car Savy ppl out there {Mitsubishi Vs Toyota}

They give cars as perks in Pakistan? Mannn, I need to move :bummer:

Re: 4 da Car Savy ppl out there {Mitsubishi Vs Toyota}

ahmadjee, pls focus on the words "... being asked to get a car in range of 10-12 lacs". Our Seema is practically being forced to drive a nicer car.

Re: 4 da Car Savy ppl out there {Mitsubishi Vs Toyota}

What kind of work do you do sis?
I am moving to Pak but I did not know Icould get a car as well? What kind of job do you have? share the stuff plz!!!

Re: 4 da Car Savy ppl out there {Mitsubishi Vs Toyota}

yeah imported chevy is being sold in pakistan lekin i had mostly seen OPTRA on da roadz.
n in da budget which is given to me i can only go 4 Toyota Corolla 2.OD and Honda Civic, no camry 4 me na :teary1:
i dun hv 2 worry abt petrol prices coz dat’s goin 2 b da firm’s headache as faisal mentioned, n i can even hv a CNG only if i find sum activity 2 do during da time when i’ll b waitin in CNG fueling queus 4 hourz
p.s. Define ** ‘kharak jati haiN’**

Re: 4 da Car Savy ppl out there {Mitsubishi Vs Toyota}

u sound so much like ma dad, u sure u ain’t him na??? :hoonh:
he has given da same reasons like future maintenance cost + Market price in case of reselling + availibility of proper service shops + Factory fitted CNG etc. bus he does not approve lancer :love:
another reason i m against honda n toyota is like now adays since financing got so ez ev one seemz 2 drive honda n toyota. i mean how in da world u’ll recognize m when u’ll come 2 khi :smiley:

Re: 4 da Car Savy ppl out there {Mitsubishi Vs Toyota}

when did u last visited khi na?? :smiley:
da amount of da roads which are dugged up 2 build new fly overs n underpasses, no car in tis planet can give a smooth ride

Re: 4 da Car Savy ppl out there {Mitsubishi Vs Toyota}

resale value is a consideration coz the car will be mine after 3 years provided i stayed wid da firm till dat time.
s far s my liking is concerned i love 4WDz but even da pakistani assmbled SPORTAGE is around 18 lacs for dat matter :frowning:
the car which i m takin will b driven by my driver n not me s my dad is very considerate abt da pedestrians :blush:

Re: 4 da Car Savy ppl out there {Mitsubishi Vs Toyota}

well with my last company i had an 800 C.C car so definitely i wud b goin for a better one frm da next one nayi?

Re: 4 da Car Savy ppl out there {Mitsubishi Vs Toyota}

The fact that in this nanhi si umarr mein, you are offered a Honda Civic by your employer, suggests that either you are very taup cheez in your field, or else aik damm *first class *phuddoo khaata laga hua hai.

Re: 4 da Car Savy ppl out there {Mitsubishi Vs Toyota}

I am working for Ferguson Associates as a business functional consultant and i m mostly engaged wid financial institutions both conventional n islamic. U know in Pakistan it’s more like dat if u get a comapny car then it becomes part of ur package so afterwards where ever u switch a car is must. Plus it also depends on da kind of job u do like it’s a must if a lot of travelling is involved s in marketing and consultancy etc.
some other firms like banks and pharmeceticals also give cars on senior positions

Re: 4 da Car Savy ppl out there {Mitsubishi Vs Toyota}

can’t say anyfin abt dat other then dat i had been doing a job for past 7 years + i studied all my studies part time in evening + i had mostly been working wid banks + it’s not a big deal any more in pakistan if sum buddy gets a car coz most companies get them on financing or leasing

Re: 4 da Car Savy ppl out there {Mitsubishi Vs Toyota}

hmmm .. i ill go wid

Subaru Impreza WRX
Mits Lancer EVO
Honda Civic Si

Mazad 6 or 3
Chevo Lumina
Honda Accord

Re: 4 da Car Savy ppl out there {Mitsubishi Vs Toyota}

The chevrolet optra that you see here is actually the daewoo nubira sedan or the suzuki verona for you americans.

In Pakistan I would suggest the Mitsubishi over the Toyota and Honda assemblies, they are extreme excuses for a car, the interior is made of melamine and the noise supression is absent, The Mitsubishi Lancer 1.6 GLX (manual) is the option to go for - or if you really dig quality, goto the nissan dealership, they sell jap assembled units, excellent workmanship, drive and reliability but resale is quite low.
