Btw, the record for the lowest T20 total of a Test playing nation is not of Bangladesh or Zimbabwe but of India i.e. 74 :smiley:

A Good win

Lessons to be learnt from T20:

  1. Shoaib Akhtar is not a T20 bowler. He sure takes wickets but he has also been going for 9-12 RPO in recent matches which you cannot afford in such a short format as T20

  2. Younus Khan does not belong in T20

  3. NZ are traditionally not good players of spin, so playing 4 seamers Akhtar, Gul, Wahab and Razzaq in the first two games was a mistake. Against them it was easy. Better to play 3 seamers (2 out of Tanvir, Umar Gul & Wahab Riaz + Razzaq) and 3 spinners (Afridi, Ajmal and Abdul Rehman)

And it goes without saying that our batting is woefully unreliable and unpredictable

Ahmed Shehzad seems to be a very good find for Pakistan. must surely be selected for World Cup

Asad Shafiq is also not T20 player and keep him just for Tests or ODI

Well if Akhtar can't bowl in T20s then what's the point of carrying him only for ODIs....he is supposed to be good in short bursts....I think he was just not in his rhythm in first 2 matches.
Second I agree...and why was YK forced by PCB egaaaz buttss to come back to all formats??? t20 team is for the non test players.....
third....well so where was this same batting line up hiding.....wasn't the first loss enough to tell Mr. Boom bust that he is needs to send Shehzad up to open and slide himself down....?
also can I add....
what is the point of UA in any side now? he debuted as a test bat and now he can barely keep up in t20s...

Asad needs to be in the ODI and Test teams only.

well of course I am very happy but i am just sick of these dramatic wins.....kaya team ha yae....na koi sar na koi pair.....na koi strategy na koi vision.....na koi outlook na koi consistency….kabiee hero kabiee zero….look at their body language and fielding today..it was outstanding..but the million dollar question is why was it missing in first 2 matches? are they only going to display professionalism when they will be warned of being dropped from the team?

I just wonder the level of IQ and wisdom of our think tank...a strategic think tank - comprised of coach, captain and senior players - is supposed to set up a strategic plan before the series and before every match....its job is to understand the situation on ground before hand, do a deep SWAT (strength opportunities, weakness and threats) analysis, rationalize/debate its decisions and then set up a strategy/plan….

As goldenasif has summed it up, it was so obvious that we need more spinners than seamers....that was a big mistake which cost us the series....

and why and I mean WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY is freakin Younis khan playing these T20 matches? For god sake…. You don’t need depth in T20…you don’t need a player to hold your innings together….there is no time for it…and if we need a senior "proper" batsman in the team for T20 matches for whatever reason, it should be misbah not younis khan..........

and why was afridi opening the innings out of no where? he has already tried this option 100 times before as well and if there is any chance for this trick to work, it would be on sub-continental pitches not on seaming wickets where the ball swings little too much with a lot of bouce.........is it too difficult to strategize this option?

and why do we want poor old razaq to open the bowling for us? he did well today but it is a strategic blunder, if you ask me...he has no pace, lost his swing long time ago and all the fielders are in circle...so it is way too easy to score runs of him....we already have 5 regular bowlers in the team....so why do we need to open with razaq everytime, get hammered and bring other bowlers in pressure? razak should be used strategically on as-needed basis depending upon the pitch condition and match situation...his main worth is his batting down the order, not his bowling upfront!...his bowling is just a bonus and frankly spekaing he should not be bowling at all in most of the matches...we should get this straight as soon as posisble...

Strategic blunders…they finally got it right in this match for most part but the real job is to figure it out before the series..not when you have already lost it....

  • Tanvir Ahmed became the first bowler in the world to take wickets in his first over in both T20I and tests.

hence the importance of batting well and putting runs on the board be it tests, ODIs or T20s

Had Pakistan scored something like 150 or 155 which is still a good total, I highly doubt that NZ would have folded like that

I think…Pakistan are in the making of three separate teams/squads for the three formats: T20I, ODIs & Tests…then it will be only Boom chikka Boom…Boom chikka Boom… :smiley: :jhanda:
