Re: 3rd ODI: Sri Lanka v Pakistan at Dambulla- Aug 3rd
From cricinfo.............
Hello and welcome to Cricinfo's live coverage of the third one-day international. It's a lovely morning in Dambulla. Good stuff for a day's cricket. Hope all of you are well and it's a pleasure to have your company. We're not too far from the toss.
Sri Lanka are just a win away from wrapping up the five-match series, after claiming the Tests 2-0. The hosts will undoubtedly be buoyant having won the first two matches rather convincingly at this venue. What has stood out between the two sides has been Sri Lanka's ability to successfully make use of conditions in Dambulla.
If there is a concern for Sri Lanka, it will be the opening combination. Sanath Jayasuriya has failed to click and Upul Tharanga has done nothing to garner much confidence. Conditions are tailormade for Mahela Jayawardene's game and this could be his day. Keep an eye out for him.
Pakistan's coach Intikhab Alam has refused to put the blame for the team's 0-2 predicament on the batting, but its clear to see where Pakistan are messing up. A loss for them will render the remaining matches meaningless.
"It is killing me to watch Pakistan perform like this. I feel today will be another day. Pakistan should not be underestimated because their inconsistency is their strength," says Taufeeq Mian. "Hopefully Imran Nazir will play and Afridi should open with him. These two need to exploit the Powerplay and surprise sri lanka with aggression."
