lol, pakistani team is always the team which has the largest number of x-captains in it, no matter what time.
look at afridi, hafeez, misbah, younis khan.....that's 4 already.
Let's face it, the team no longer has wicket-takers, the ones to which a captain can give the ball, at a trying time to enable a wicket.
the batsmen are all shoddy, have no footwork, lack confidence, and regularly fail while chasing outswing bowling. I remember even the likes of Saeed Anwar and Amir Sohail used to be frequently out in the same manner, chasing the outswing without footwork.
these batsmen play 1 or 2 big innings and they think they've done it all and they'll be a success and future hit for the team. But that always comes crashing down in the next match. They just throw their wickets away.
other than ajmal's spin, pakistan don't really have any options other than gul, junaid, irfan. Even these guys are there I don't see any youngsters after these ones.....it's like nobody really fast and genuine wicket-taker is coming up, like the assembly line just stopped after shoaib akhtar
I wonder what waqar younis and Grant flower must be thinking these days after the loss to SL.
102 all out, welldone boys, all that money spent on you and this is what your output is. Great going. Perhaps Pakistan has a chance to beat Zimbabwe and other minnows in the WC. Even in those matches I'd like to see them put a target and make Pakistan chase it under pressure.
This team cannot survive the bouncy & green pitches of Australia in the World Cup. Today, even Zimbabwe looked like a good gelled unit than Pakistan did in the 3rd ODI. Too many players in the team not cut out for international cricket...Then I don't understand if you take youngsters like Anwar Ali, why not give him a chance? What's the point of him carrying drinks and warming the bench?
Hafeez - not cut out to open, specially with 2 new balls in ODIs. Should play in the middle order and good for hitting. His natural game.
Sharjeel - last 10 innings, didn't cross 26 runs. As an International opener, Unacceptable.
Misbah - Just not meant for today's batting style in ODIs. Play only test matches.
Younus Khan - I think can survive and occupy ODI # 3 batting spot only until the WC, then should retire. He should be captain for WC.
Umar Akmal - if he keeps wicket for 50 overs, he needs to bat at No.6/7.
Taufeeq Umar - Should be used an opener in ODIs (but will never happen). The best opener we had since Saeed Anwar/Aamir Sohail. Technique wise.
Afridi - I think time to bid him farewell. Ain't nothing he can do at international level. 1 performance in 10 games is not enough. Does not justify a place.
Hammad Azam should be tried for allrounder position, specially for seaming wickets at the world cup. He would be useful with his hitting in the lower order as well. More reliable than Afridi.
