3rd ODI: Australia v Pakistan Adelaide 26 Jan

ridiculous team selection... if anyone deserved to be dropped, it was Younis - not Malik... Malik is one of only two players (the other being Yousuf) in the team who knows how to build an ODI innings...

Next thing you know they will call-up Rameez Aziz from U-19 :hehe:

yeah Rameez Aziz and Younis Khan batting together in an ODI. one single every three overs with a lot of plays and misses in between - the stuff dreams are made of…

I don’t get how Younis had the gall to drop Yousuf and then Malik when he was captain… I thought Younis was being Younis. but now even Yousuf dropped Malik. is he blind? as someone who understands how one is supposed to bat in ODIs surely he must know that Malik is the only player apart from Yousuf himself who knows how to bat properly in ODIs.

I like this though. Malik gets a couple of innings wrong and out he goes. Afridi does nothing for years. no problem. just keep on giving him chances… and after five years, he find a little bit of form and voila, he is the main captaincy contender. Malik gets a few matches wrong and out he goes. similarly, Younis (I don’t doubt his class as a batsman) does nothing in ODIs for so long… but everyone around him is dropped but not him. remarkable…

I must say that I’ve never been this confused as a Pak fan/arm chair expert.

Didn't Malik drop Yousuf after which he joined ICL? Could it be the return of favor (partial)?

Yousuf I believe was only dropped from the T20 team. and he wasn't dropped from the 11... he was dropped from the full squad. so, the selection committee must have had played a role there. Yousuf promptly threw a tantrum and after some drama marched off to ICL... even though he hasn't been able to get back into the T20 team despite leaving ICL and the ban being overturned. plus lets be honest Yousuf only wanted to play T20 because he wanted to participate in the IPL cash grab... it had nothing to do with representing Pakistan in T20 or anything.

plus Pakistan has done pretty well without Yousuf in T20s... so, maybe it wasn't such a bad decision? though at the time I also felt that Yousuf should have been a part of the T20 team.

Yousuf used to be one of my favorite players in the team until the whole ICL drama. but that was really unprofessional... and left a really bad taste for a long-time fan like me.

coming back to Malik, he should have played this match on the back of his fielding in the last game alone. no one other than Malik in that team would have taken the catches that he took in the last game. we bemoan our pathetic fielding all the time and now have dropped our best or second best fielder in the team.

Re: 3rd ODI: Australia v Pakistan Adelaide 26 Jan

Pakistan was really going good, I watched the highlights last night. Younis was kind of slow, but then those two dismissals, especially the Butt one was plain pathetic. that was such a big blunder. a bowler is bowling right hand over the wicket to left hand handed batsman,..

now the only way he can get a wicket is when the ball pitches either at off stump or middle stump and then does some in swing to left handed batsman.

that ball pitched well outside of leg stump ( so this cant be given out). hit him almost outside of leg stump and way way way too high... That De Silva is a shame to umpires..

We all know what happened 5-0. And more politics evolved.
