Disaster! What good is oil if you cant actually use it! It lacks refinement capacity. Its set fuel rationing!
At least 12 petrol stations have been torched in the Iranian capital, Tehran, after the government announced fuel rationing for private vehicles.
Windows were smashed and stones thrown at the stations, and there was traffic chaos as motorists queued to buy fuel.
Iranians were given only two hours’ notice of the move that limits private drivers to 100 litres of fuel a month.

Millions of dollars of oil money has gone into the pockets of their top religious brass. The most corrupt is at the top: Hashemi Rafsanjani.

I have worked in Iran and still go there time to time. When Khomeini came to power at that time some 107 oil rigs all belonging to foreign companies were nationalised (kept without any compensation to the owners). By late 90' they had only 23 functioning oil rigs left, the rest were all canabalised for spare parts. That's when they decided to open up to the world again at least for oil production. Same story for the old refineries, all these are in bad shape and low production capacity.
I was project engineer for TotalFina Elf Balal project back in 2001.
The Frech government made this beautiful off shore oil plateform with 10 flowing wells all completed in 1 1/2 years within 6 months of handing over to Iranian crew the whole bloody thing was in shambles.
Sorry to say, Iranians are excellent poets, painters etc etc. But engineering and hard work is not there cup of tea.

I worked in some of their nationalized rigs and their efficiency and safety record was nothing to sing songs about.
From what I know, Iran produces 4MBOPD while its internal consumption is more than 1.5MBPOD. Oil is heavily subsidized in Iran and is probably the cheapest in the world. There are usually mass agitations if the price of oil is raised.

I'm sure when the Ameican conquerors settle there within the next 2 years, they will happily bring along their engineeing expertise. Hey, the oil can join the pipeline proposed in Iraq and run straight to the port of haifa for refinement.
Once Iran falls to the West, there will be no Nation with the will to stand up for Muslims. We will be left with sheep like the Pakistan Government happy to save their own necks.

you know what??? u muslims are very emotional. keep crying jihad..jihad...islam in danger...save islam and all that..there are dozens of muslim countries..many of them wealthy because of oil...why can't they all join and make life hell for one america.

I wish they would, but many seem to rely on America to protect them. Plus Sunni, Shia nonsense tearing the Umah apart. The West has been smart in building it's armed forces and arming them to the teeth with the latest fire-power. Thes Arab nations seem to just sit on their backsides waiting for Karfur to help them manage their oil wealth.
We should be creating credible defences and then turning off the oil :) That would soon get Palestine, Kashmir and any other problems quickly sorted out. At the present rate, Hell fire will be filled with our gutless, boneless and spineless leaders.

I think WitchDr and Light Bearer hit the nail on the head. There was a study paper released a couple of years ago that inventoried the scientific papers released from Islamic countries. The vast majority of the papers released were on the topic of Islam. The number of papers on engineering, core science, medicine, and applied science were pitifully low.
Universities in the Arab (and Persian) World produce lots of "Islamic Scholors", but the lack of engineers, mathematicians, scientists and managers make them totally dependent on the West for advanced technical skills. Worse yet, even Saudi Arabia cannot self fund it's oil infrastructure. Despite all of the oil wealth in Saudi, when it comes time to build out a large pipeline, or a refinery, or advanced wells, they put out bids to the West to provide capital.
Iran is in even worse shape. They have enough refining capacity to meet the needs of 50% of it's economy. Every time they contract with Russia to expand capacity, they refuse to pay, get in a political conflict, or they are subject to santions that inhibit their abilty to aquire advanced technology. Worse yet, all of the excess cash they are generating is pumped into projects of folly like their nuclear program, or quasi-obsolete weaponry, or gasoline subsidies to keep the masses appeased. When every drop of oil has been pumped out of the ground Iran will revert to a quasi-middle ages existance, because they have very little commerce to show for all of that wealth. Unemployment among the young is around 30%, and anyone with half of a brain flees when they can. Iran's isolation because of the mullahs has cost them dearly.

TEHRAN: Iran has signed a deal to export gas to nearby Oman that could open new export routes for the Islamic Republic well beyond the neighbouring Arab state.
Under the agreement signed late on Monday, the Iranian Oil Ministry Web site said Iran would export 1 billion cubic feet of gas to Oman, a small gas producer itself which already has an export terminal to make liquefied natural gas (LNG). LNG plants cool gas into liquid so it can be shipped beyond the range of pipelines but Iran’s efforts to build its own LNG facilities have faced delays, in part because US sanctions on Tehran deter investors and block access to some technology.
Iran, which sits on the world’s second largest gas reserves, now exports only modest amounts of gas by pipeline. Omani Commerce and Industry Minister Makboul bin Ali bin Sultan, who signed Monday’s deal with Iranian Oil Minister Kazem Vaziri-Hamaneh, suggested the main aim was to meet Omani needs. reuters

U.S. gross oil imports from the Persian Gulf were 2.2 million bbl/d during 2006, accounting for 17 percent of the US total net oil imports. Besides oil, the Persian Gulf region also has sizeable reserves (2,509 trillion cubic feet -- Tcf) of natural gas, accounting for 41 percent of total proven world gas reserves.

it is good that they are not doing any research in science. With oil money and in depth knowledge in science and technology, they would have screwed the world. every thing is some how balanced in this world:halo:
