**U.S. Strike In Pakistan Said To Kill ‘Mostly Uzbek’ Militants **

A senior Taliban official said a U.S. missile strike killed “at least 25”** Al-Qaeda-linked militants** in Pakistan’s South Waziristan region on the Afghan border on February 14.
The strike by pilotless drones was the third such attack since U.S. President Barack Obama took office on January 20 and could ignite fresh popular anger in Pakistan over the cross-border raids from Afghanistan.
The Taliban official said those killed were mostly Uzbek fighters.
“Around 50 to 60 mujahedin [fighters] have been living there for about a week,” the source told Reuters. “All of them were** Uzbeks.**”
Intelligence officials confirmed the incident.
U.S. drones carried out about 30 missile attacks on suspected militants in 2008, according to a Reuters tally, more than half after the beginning of September.

ISLAMABAD, Feb 14 (KUNA) – Nearly 30 people were killed and 15 others were wounded Saturday morning in the fresh US drone attack in Pakistani tribal belt along Afghan border, said sources.
An unmanned US drone fired at least three missiles that hit a house in Nasr Khel a remote village of South Waziristan tribal agency, security sources told KUNA.
They said the attack killed nearly 30 people and wounded about 15 others. Sources said most of the killed were of Uzbek origin, adding that wounded also included women and children.
Sources further said that the village is known as the stronghold of key Taliban commander, Baitullah Mehsud, and the targeted house had been used as hideout by militants.
Sources feared further rise in the death toll saying several wounded were in critical condition and the rescue people were retrieving more dead bodies from under the debris.
how do they know these were uzbeks? the words of a "taliban leader"?
Americans/NATO are not idiots to knowingly kill civilian's and create more trouble for themselves, neither they have enough time/money/ammunition to play around, common sense my friend !
Another thing they could do is wait until other Taliban gather around to pick up the bodies, and then bomb them again:)
Apparently a good number of terrorists surrounded the place afterwards, and could have been easy great targets had the drones come around again.
Whats confusing is, who are these supposed spies that the Taliban keep killing? Obviously they are the wrong people, as intelligence still gets out. But you have to wonder, on what basis do the Taliban suspect them and how do the actual spies escape detections?!!?!?!

under taliban rule in afg, the uzbeks were part of the evil northern alliance. now when northern alliance is in power, and the taliban have retreated to waziristan and assorted adjoining tribal areas, why would uzbeks be there? it doesnt even make sense. unless someone is trying to hide the fact that these were just local waziri terrorists.
i can give u people better information as i belong to area adjacent to waziristan. it is not must that only pashtuns can b talibans. talibans have large no of uzbeks also and most of beheadings in videos r carried by uzbeks. in south waziristan baitulah mehsud has given them shelter after wazirs turned against uzbeks. last three 3 uzbeks were killed by locals of my village when they tried to abduct union counslar of the area.
most of drone attacks are carried out on actual talibans hideouts. few weeks ago a drone attack was executed first time in settled area of bannu. the village was of wazir tribe and is few miles away frm my village. many of deads were found to b forigners.
the local spies throw a metal piece in the house after confirming that it is of taliban/alqaida, then drone attacks that house in which metal is thrown which is actualy a detector 4 drones.

Few days ago it happened in some tribal area and locals refused and sheltered the shia minority village and guarded it against these terrorists who urged tribals to kill them. Whats situation in and around your village ?

local typical pashtuns usually protect minorities according to their code "pashtunwali". but nowdays these mullahs are prevailing over pashtuniayat.. last month a qadiani was abducted from naurang city of district lakki marwat by local talibans. there is no info on his fate.

I am sure you are speaking Taliban language, which thinks that all kafirs need to be killed.
There are minorities in every Muslim country. Saudi has about 20% shia population, for example. Iran has about 5% Jewish population. But none of them go about killing minorities only because they consider them kafir. This is what makes Taliban anti-Islamic, even though they use Islam's name.

Different Uzbeks. The Northen Alliance Uzbeks were Afghanis of Uzbek ethnicity. They were led by Rashid Dostum, an Afghani uzbek politician.
The Uzbek militants in Pakistan are not affiliated with Dostum - they are actual Uzbekistanis from Uzbekistan, not Afghanistan. They were forced out of their country by its dictator after the militant effort to overthrow the Uzbek government failed, and they found welcome and shelter initially from Al-Qaeda in the late 90s and following the rapid demise of Al-Qaeda earlier this decade, in the communities that were sympathetic to Al-Qaeda.
These are Uzbeks in exile - they can't return to Uzbekistan because the government wants to kill them, but having failed to create an "Islamic" state by force in Uzbekistan they are trying to help the Pakistani Taliban do the same in the FATA.
