Cant deny the past. But IMHO, things are improving in India. Most folks in my circle do not bash minorities and for the most part are not prejudiced. One of my colleagues is married to a muslim lady. In Mumbai, it is Biharis who are now at receiving end of prejudice, and not just from locals. I saw a Sardar berate Biharis - saying unko akal naheen hai etc.

Point I am making is - Muslims and Sikhs in present day India are not targeted (at least as far as I know). It is no longer 1985 for Sikhs and ~ 2002 for muslims. I pray it remains that way.

When I went to India last, I asked an old muslim gentleman what procedure I need to follow to go to a mosque. He said - betay, bus khuda say duva mango, aur kuch khaas naheen. Sar ko roomal say cover karo.

The taxi driver on the way back to airport was also an old, frail and dignified muslim gentleman. Yes, he felt muslims had to go out of their way to show loyalty to India. But for the most part, he was happy. Yeh hamara mulk hai, he said.

Your acredit to ur ppl Southie . I have nothing against Indians. Only people who openly defend things that are obviously wrong and unjustied.
