I think if the PCB do eventually drop Razzaq and Yousuf (as some reports are suggesting) it would be suicidal.
Twenty20 is n’t just about mindless slogging. You do need to build partnerships in the middle overs. You do need batsmen who can occupy one end and score quickly at the same time. Someone like Yousuf ((who has the third best one-day average (41.02) after Zaheer Abbas (47.62) and Miandad (41.70) among Pakistani batters)) deserves more respect. Yousuf may not be a great fielder but neither were Zaheer and Saeed Anwar. Packing the side with sloggers and bashers like Shahid Afridi and Nazir (who only come good once in a blue moon) is not the best way to approach this format of cricket. It will ensure regular collapses of < 100 if anything

Similarly dropping Razzaq will be a stupid move. His ability to clear the field is just what you need in the slog overs of a Twenty20 game

yousaf is not a 2020 player he is an outstanding and ideal odi batsman coming at no 4 and anchoring the team till 40 over or so but in 2020 u need players with the ability to adjust quickly and give a short burst of 30 -40 quick runs in 20 balls and further more who can save runs in the field so i think yousaf should concentrate on his odi and test career ...... and for abdul razzaq he must be there u need a player like him at 7/8 and a bowler who can reverse the ball quickly so he should b there if fit....

^ I disagree. Yousuf unlike Younis Khan (who's not known for big-hitting) can hit massive sixes. So if Younis Khan (and he should be) is included in the final XI and Yousuf is n't the latter would have every reason to feel hard done by the selectors. Besides you don't need to slog every ball even in a Twenty20 game. A fifth or quarter of the 120 balls sent to the fence would almost guarantee a final score of 160+.

We do need a 50 overs player here too because all of the other batsmen included in the team are not even 20/20 players, they are all 10/10 players and someone like Yousuf should have been included to play rest of the 10 overs.
and lets assume for the sake of argument that Selectors are right in saying that Yousuf is not a 20/20 player, do you think Younus is? I bet Yousuf can score runs at faster pace than Younus. I agree that Younus is a better fielder but thats does not compensate for his lack in batting.

Yousuf's mother is ill, it could be one of the reasons why he was not selected. But it's a shame we will miss his batting. Razzaq had a tough last year, but he should have been chosen for 20/20. But this squad looks good.
