Re: 3 year old !
Do the brits have mac and cheese?
Maybe have some cupcakes on hand and let them decorate with frosting and sprinkles? Will be a bit messy.
Noodles i make for my daughter are pretty easy: boil some noodles, add sauteed chicken cut into bits, add canned pasta sauce, viola.
Re: 3 year old !
yep I had a three old visiting me a few weeks ago and she wanted noodles for breakfast.. I just boiled noodles and put ketchup in there.. she thought it was the yummiest thing ever :D
how about pizza pockets?
or they can bake sugar cookies or brownies with you if you want them to be involved!!
Re: 3 year old !
How about mock pizza. You take burger buns split in half and it's like 2 pizza bases. Anyway, what you could do is prepare a pizza sauce, get all different toppings in different bowls e.g. sweetcorn, green pepper mushrooms and get them to build up their own toppings on the base and then you could bake it for them and whilst baking get them to make Eid cards?
Re: 3 year old !
^I agree with the others. Make it an interactive experience....where they get to make their own food. They'll have fun with that and rave about CB aunti when they go home, lol.
You can even use bagels for pizza and do as msis above suggested. You could even provide them with soft taco wraps and various toppings and they can make their own taco.
For dessert take some bananas and have the kids dip em in chocolate and freeze em for a yummy and healthy snack. If the like it...their moms might be grateful that you got them to eat fruit in a fun way. You might want to ask if the kids are allergic to anything. There are so many things you can do. One of the benefits of having them involved in making their food is that they won't run around and wreak havoc around your house. :p
Re: 3 year old !
ohho no guys they arent coming over to stay … I have invited 4 families for iftar dawat … so I will be darn busy with serving the guests … but have no idea what to prepare for kids THAT little ![]()
I thought i would do chicken balls or potato cheese balls .. but then I found myself wondering if kids that age eat solids:konfused:
But now that you guys mentioned pizza and all … I am thinking , 3 year olds can actually eat proper food … So i will do the noodles for them …
Correct me if i am wrong .. this is how i will prepare them :
boil noodles… make fresh tomato sauce with a tinge of garlic, half tsp soya sauce, half tsp vienegar, one tsp ketchup, salt , black pepper… Mix noodles and add boiled and shredded chicken …
How does it sound from a kid’s perspective? ![]()
Re: 3 year old !
The noodle recipe sounds ok. But I also wanted to suggest getting chicago pizza from tesco or sainsburys. You can get the ones which have 2 small pizzas in packet or a large pizza which has sauce in the crust. And all the kids I know love that.
Re: 3 year old !
My son loves chicken alfredo pasta. You can use bow-tie pasta shells for this, which is easy for the kids to chew.
You can't go wrong with pizza and fries.
Cupcakes are also fun. You can ice the cupcakes and have them decorate it with their own sprinkles.
Re: 3 year old !
Noor and Mehnaz, sounds good … I particularly like the bow-tie pasta shell idea…
Out of interest, isnt it hard for a 3 year old to eat noodles ? I mean how do they manage to get it on their fork:konfused: or even if they try to eat it with their hands .. isnt it hard to hold such a thin noodle …
Which brings me to ask another question, should i use spagetti or the instant noodle pack?
Re: 3 year old !
How about chicken nuggets or is that for the older kids.. We have a 2 1/2 year old who loves anything namkeen.. samosa and pakoras go down well with him .. anything with potatoes
Re: 3 year old !
Two and a half year old eating pakora’s
… I think i have largely underestimated kiddies ![]()
That gives me an idea that I can make potato pakora’s for the kids ![]()
Re: 3 year old !
Potato pakoras sound like a good idea. I'd also go with the bow tie pasta, rather than noodles. That could get very messy.
Also, how about pre-made mini pizza's?
Re: 3 year old !
A three year old can pretty much eat anything you'd make for the adults....but that doesn't mean they will....your noodle recipe sounds fine for three year olds. :)
Re: 3 year old !
chicken nuggets
pizza
chicken tenders
macaroni and cheese
grilled cheese sandwiches
mattar pulao
they can eat pretty much anything by that age as long as its not too spicy, complicated or messy.
my 4 year old niece eats parathay with butter - its her favorite thing.
apple pie
cupcakes
Re: 3 year old !
