3 lil (or not so lil) problems :(

hi guys..i have 3 prbs in specific i hope u all cud help.

1- so i m 37 w and 5d pregnant MA.. and dunno when i will deliver. ppl have been askin me so acc. to them ive finished 9 so shud b havin it soooooooooooon but it makes me anxious cus docc gave me due date for 4o weeks on May 9. shud i b worried? i think typical paki mentality (i mean ppl livin there) is that u cross nine month and u shud HAVE the baby or wotever. this is all makin me nervous. u know ppl back home have no clue abt weeks system so they wudnt understand this logic of weeks. i m first time mom so i dunno how soon to expect delivery. when u guys had urs wot was ur week?

2- i didnt have any strech marks and suddenly since 9th began i got them and just noticed them 2 weeks back .. they r not white in color but red.. is that normal and is there any difference between both kinds of marks? i m sooooooo depressed, din expect to have tem. i think i took my tummy for granted. i hvnt gained much either MA. just 10 kilos and tummy still looks like max 51/2 - 6 mnths.

3- I am embarassed to say that i noticed my aerola, or shud i say whole nipple turn extrememlyyyyyyyyyyyyyy dark. i m medium fair not v fair.. but now they r soo dark and so big in size as if i m feedin since yearssssssss ( i mean the aerola) is this normal?also i noticed above the aerola i have many patches of dark color.. as in dots dots all above the aerola.. is that normal?? can i ever expect to have my normal medium size aerola sum dayyyyy :frowning:

thanks guysssssssss… i know who to turn to in times of distress! kisses

Re: 3 lil (or not so lil) problems :(

  1. Babies are considered full term after 37 weeks. Due dates are ALWAYS calculated at 40 weeks. The baby could come any day now, but you should be having weekly check ups. The doctor will tell you if it looks like you're almost ready.

  2. Sound normal.

  3. That's normal. Expect a lot of changes in your breasts.

Re: 3 lil (or not so lil) problems :(

Yes, afull-termdelivery is 40 weeks...it is calculated as 40 weeks from the date of the "LMP" (last monthly period) so that can cause a bit of confusion. The docs are typically right on target with delivery dates.

Stretch marks typically start out red or purple in color. The skin actually stretches so far that tiny blood vessels break as it stretches and this gives them their initial red or purple color. They eventually heal and turn white-ish. After you deliver, you can use a product called Mederma which significantly improves the appearance of stretch marks.

The darkening of the aureola is normal. You may also get a dark line that starts at your belly button and heads south. The darkened area typically fades when you stop breastfeeding.

Everything sounds perfect!! WIshing you a smooth delivery and a beautiful, healthy baby!!

thx sooooo mch guys... esp M03... hugsssss! mo3 u r so damn rite i have a weird line which my innocent hubs pointed out as umbilical cord hahahaha.... it strts from under belly button and touches the vagina. i found it amusin that hubs thot its the baby's cord cus the line is straight and thin.. wot is this line??? y do we get them?

Re: 3 lil (or not so lil) problems :(

i dun understand then WHY ppl in pak think once uve finished 9th u shud deliver?? i even have one cousin who told me she got a medicine after she finished 9th so she cud deliver. in a way we women finish 10 whole months before we dliver (if we consider someone delivering in 40 weeks) and for pak ppl that seems insane. i dunno wot to say when they ask me when i will deliver. :(

Re: 3 lil (or not so lil) problems :(

You should tell them the baby will come when he/she is ready. They dont need to know anything more. Dont stress yourself out over something so trivial. Also, the longer the baby stays in there, the better it is for them.

I didnt have stretch marks until 2 weeks before i delivered and i was also dissappointed BUT a year later, i barely notice them. And i like to say they are my battle scars, lol.

The dark aerolas and the linea niagra are totally normal. They will both start getting normal after birth. Again, a year later, both these things are back to normal for me.

think about stretch marks as preganancy service stripes thats what I call them.

Remember that 9 calendar months is not the same as 36 weeks. Plus due dates are calculated as 40 weeks from your last menstrual period and/or ROUGHLY 38 weeks from conception.

It's pretty normal to have the baby anywhere from weeks 37-42. Your body and your baby will make the decision. If the doctor feels there's a medical need to deliver earlier, s/he'll let you know.
