3.5 yard or 5 yard dupatta?

Re: 3.5 yard or 5 yard dupatta?

^ see the picture of any bunto bride lately- i believe they've all got 5 yard dupatta's.

Re: 3.5 yard or 5 yard dupatta?

yes please no train unless your wearing a western outfit

Do you have any pics of that? So i can have a better understanding of what you mean about the hemlines? I just don't like how the straight lengha looks, i thought a trail would make it more flowy, a gharara will up the price!

Re: 3.5 yard or 5 yard dupatta?

the high/low ones are where the hemline is slightly higher in the front and then lower in the back and its usually floor length and can be a bit more so you have a slight sweep behind you. i can't find seem to find the pics although i've seen them here! can anyone help please?

its most common now with churidars or tights, although it also looks very pretty with a lehenga.

Re: 3.5 yard or 5 yard dupatta?

Groovy - Does that use more cloth or work?

can anyone help groovy and I?!

Re: 3.5 yard or 5 yard dupatta?

i'd go for a 3yard if dress is more western kind of, 5yard if its like those by bunto kazmi

Re: 3.5 yard or 5 yard dupatta?

well it depends on how much of a sweep you want behind you, i suppose, but generally yes, they use more fabric than a regular straight kameez because these ones have a bit of gheyr and they're longer.

Re: 3.5 yard or 5 yard dupatta?

Shyd this can help

Re: 3.5 yard or 5 yard dupatta?

SGC, this post has helped me but made my mom furious :-P She just don't get the idea of a 5 yard udapptta :-P

Re: 3.5 yard or 5 yard dupatta?

I agree, I want a 5 yrd one too, but mom thinks that is way TOO MUCH fabric! :(

Re: 3.5 yard or 5 yard dupatta?

can you guys compromise and do a 4 yard one instead? or 4.5?

thanks for the picture, I queue! thats the hemline i was referring to.

3.5 yard or 5 yard dupatta?

Oh thats a great look, gonna ask them about doing that for me... I asked them about 4 or 4.5 yard dupatta but they said it would look awkward! Ive already confirmed my order with 5 yard dupatta and a flowy lengha :)

Re: 3.5 yard or 5 yard dupatta?

if your lehenga will be flowy, ask them to make it farshi gharara length as opposed to with a train. bunto will know exactly what you mean and you’ll have a very graceful outfit, especially paired with a high/low hemline shirt.

this is what a bunto farshi looks like length-wise-

Re: 3.5 yard or 5 yard dupatta?

Thanks SGC .. I'll ask her about it .. So it would be a lehnga at a farshi gharara length .. I love the idea, your the best!

Re: 3.5 yard or 5 yard dupatta?

wouldnt 5 yrd be too long? how would it be draped around the dulhan?

Re: 3.5 yard or 5 yard dupatta?

The MUA you go to will do it. Drape over the head, over the back, folded on an arm. Looks really elegant as opposed to the 2.5 yards one left pinned on the head with your front exposed !

Re: 3.5 yard or 5 yard dupatta?

Thats right. MUA knows how to drape these dupattas specially in khi. Lahore MUAs like Mariams, New Look, samera umer etc still need to learn!!! Whenever I look at my sister's pics, i hate how mariams adjusted her 5 yards dupatta... she was so uncomfurtable...

Re: 3.5 yard or 5 yard dupatta?

thats my other problem ... will people in peshawar know how to set the dupatta or not :(

Re: 3.5 yard or 5 yard dupatta?

This might be off topic by this point, but I remember at a wedding show makeup artist Shobana of Amplified Soul Makeup + Hair Couture said she likes the shorter lenght because it falls so much nicer, like a veil on a gori bride.

Also, shorter length equals less kaam equals less work for designer equals smaller price. So for some designers, they have to maintain overheads, and in order to do so, will only stitch certain styles.

Re: 3.5 yard or 5 yard dupatta?

Missyy when the time comes IA take printouts of bunto brides to show your MUA how to drape the dupatta.
