3,000 Sikh pilgrims to visit Pakistan for Baisakhi

A ‘jatha’ of 3,000 Sikh pilgrims will visit gurdwaras in Pakistan later this month to celebrate Baisakhi festival.
The contingent will comprise devotees from different states, who would travel by three special trains arranged by the Pakistani Railways from Amritsar on April 11, National Sikh Organisation (NSO) General Secretary S Paramjit Singh Chandok said in a release on Saturday.
During their ten-day trip from April 11 to 20, the ‘jatha’ would visit Rawalpindi, Gurdwara Sacha Sauda, Gurdwara Rori Sahib, local gurdwaras at Nankana Sahib and would celebrate Baisakhi, that falls on April 14, at Gurdwara Sri Panja Sahib, Chandok said.
They would return by three special trains on April 20.
The list of pilgrims had been cleared by the Ministry of External Affairs which recommended to the Pakistan High Commission to grant visa to them, Chandok said.
