Kumble given out stumped but i think this was harsh on the batsman !!!!! a very dabateable decision though

Kumble missed a Kaneria ball... Wicketkeeper takes the bails off and appeals for stump wicket. It was referred to the third umpire.
The replays showed the Kumble was shuffling.. and his back foot was half in the crease when the bail was taken off, but the feet got in the air after that before the other foot came back in. Since it was so close so the benefit of the doubt should have gone to the batsman... but the third umpire (Ghauri) pressed the red button. I thought the decision was distasteful.
