Australia in a follow on position, unheard of in recent times, how the mighty fall.
^ True. but this Australian side does not have many big stars - Ponting, Hussey and Lee (who is not playing). And their bowling is not that special. Hauritz is no Warne and the seamers are decent rather than outstanding.
If England bat all day today they will have an overall lead of 500+/-
I have a feeling though that they might bat till lunch tomorrow.
Forecast is for light showers on Sunday and Monday and England need to bear that in mind when declaring
Stumps - Day3
England 311/6 lead by 521 runs with 4 wickets remaining
Forecast is for light showers on Sunday and Monday. Australia could still escape with a draw

Ponting and Hussey are not big stars? Atleast Ponting is IMO.
Yes, Stuart Clark and Brett Lee are not playing that is big blow to Aussie bowling.
Stumps day 3:
Eng 311/6 lead by 521 runs. Flintoff and Broad to continue batting tomorrow.

Aus 296/5, some damage control!! Clarke on 116, Haddin on 72
Re: 2nd Test: England v Australia at Lord's, Jul 16-20, 2009
Out of 5 three wickets were dubious or wrong. Umpires have almost ruined Aussies chance of winning.
The way Australia (313/5) have fought back from a hopeless 128/5 chasing a mammoth 522 is quite commendable. They still need an unlikely 209 for victory on the final day but an Australian victory is not completely out of the question. This is what you want to see from a test side - a fight not a meek surrender in adversity
Ponting and coach Tim Nielsen are only thinking about victory. What a great attitude to have even when you are seemingly up against it. That is why Australia have been a champion team for 12 odd years.
**"It’s the history of the Australian cricket team that helps us. We have only spoken about winning the game and once you get into the position you’re in now, or even when you’re 520, the players make the decisions down on the ground about the best way to go about it. **
**“Ricky [Ponting] mentioned it at the start,” said Nielsen. “There’s nowhere he’d rather be than here, with people not believing we could win, with us having this opportunity. Once again we’ve shown that when our backs are against the wall, good players will stand up and we feel we are good players under pressure.” **
Australia’s indomitable spirit has refused to be crushed in the absence of so many of the men who made them great over the past decade. “It’s the great thing about playing Test cricket,” said Nielsen. “The guys are excited about playing against the best, and at the moment it’s a great contest. There’s a feeling of opportunity, and sometimes you can come to a Test match and you don’t need a scoreboard like we have tonight to be excited.”

Aussies are eyeing for a record chase?
Re: 2nd Test: England v Australia at Lord's, Jul 16-20, 2009
peace to u 2 Arleitter
I want to say Aus have no chance... but what can you do to a team that does not know how to decline and fall graciously....
England are still favorites. :) Would be fun to hear what sariyal Ponting says after he looses this game :D
Re: 2nd Test: England v Australia at Lord's, Jul 16-20, 2009
weather permitting England will complete the win today.
The Clarke-Haddin partnership has atleast ensured that it won't be a humiliating defeat. Most sides w'd have lost the game yesterday after collapsing to 128/5
