Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008
The Cricinfo headline says :** India struck by SUPER Symonds**
SUPER....my foot. He was out caught behind when he was on 30 something....but because of the a-hole Bucknor who did not see what everybody else saw.
The headline should say : India struck by CHEATER Symonds
Plus...there were some plumb LBWs not given. Stumping chance not given by the Third Umpire...one that should have been ruled against the batsman.
Australia is a tough team to put down as it is...and when the Umpires also start playing for them, there is little chance for the opposition (in this case India).
^^ The blame should be on the umpires and not on Symonds. Any Indian player would have also done what Symonds did today.
Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008
Regardless of some controversial decisions, the fact remains the India didn't have the firepower to dismiss number 8 and 9 of Australia. Hogg and Lee not only survived, they slapped the bowlers around.
Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008
The thing is these Aussie players like to portray that they are great sportsmen and all…
Do you remember how Slater once went upto Dravid and aggressively asked him why he did not walk after a catch (a catch that was not upheld by the third umpire because it seemed like it did not carry)
See the video :
And yesterday, when Symonds was so clearly OUT, he remained there with a masoom straight face as if nothing had happened.
It will be safe to say that BUCKNOR killed any hope that India might have entertained about winning this Test.

That India does not have bowling firepower is not exactly news.....but wrong decisions (and going wicketless for so long as a consequence) simply kills the confidence of bowlers who were looking so dangerous when Australia were 134/6
Re: 2nd Test Australia vs. India at Sydney Jan 02-06 2008
its a shame that advantage india had after reducing australis to 136/6 was taken away by some really pathetic and mindless umpiring. symonds got away with a caught behind and stumping which is even more shocking that 3rd umpire despite seeing it on TV replay gave him not out. :halo:

Tony Greig now mentions that BCCI has made a strong call to the captain and members to present their side of the views to ICC on the umpiring standards in this test.
