interestingly umpire looked @ clarke and ponting and ponting indicated it was a clean catch and even raised his finger to give ganguly out which is followed by benson’s decision to give ganguly out. what a farce …

Ganguly, after he nicked that stood long and hard, not convinced that CLarke had caught it, the Australians had no doubt it was out, Ponting motioned to Benson that it was taken and Benson raised the finger.

Ponting was not even sure himself. The way he motioned his signal towards the umpire was as if he was asking Benson for the verdict, not actually giving out his decision. Relying on the “finger” gestures of the captains and members of the opposite teams without confirming when you have a wealth of technology is just horrible.
