Re: 2nd step: the mehndi

i asked my carpenter to get these small wooden pieces..i have seen them here in lahore in shops where we get wooden accessories (handles, frames, etc) i thik they are for 25-30rs each..these have screws at their both ends so that they can be fitted oonto anything we want.. you might have seen such small pieces screwed on the hanger stands(the ones we use to hang clothes, etc) and he will then fix them on a circular hard-board or some light weighted wooden board ( i dont know what do they call it technically in their language)

and as for the pond thingy, i have my mehndi in a ground near my place.. i am thinking about making one around the 'sub se mota danda' they use to support the tent in the middle of the ground.. i have some extra (wasted) brickes in the backyard of my place..willl use them to make it or ask some 'mazdoor' to make it on the same day.it wont take more than an hour for building it using cement,etc..then i will paint it with theme colours of my mehndi and will fill it with either water and floating flowers&candles or with yellow flowers and candles.. i hope it looks nice..InshaAllah

and i am planning to make the stage for mehndi myself..will let you know the datails as soon as i come up with a decision ..

hey..do you know what MAKRAMA is ? it is the strings made up of mirrors and beads on some nilon thread or fishing thread (the ones we see in indian soap dramas now a days) i have asked my servant (she is 15 yrs old & has sisters and cousins of her age at home) to make those.. i have got different coloured beads from liberty market and instructed them about colours (like 3 golden,2 red,3 golden,2 orange and 3 golden again) and then a big round mirror..and iwill hang them on the stage InshaAllah ..

i hope these look nice.. i really like nice decorative things on functions but hiring designers would get expensive..since i cant give up my interest in such things,i decided to do it myself at home with minimal expense
