Twenty nine cricketers, including two Australians are suspected to be involved in spot-fixing at last year’s Indian Premier League in South Africa, a leading London newspaper claimed on Sunday.
According to a secret dossier compiled by the ICC’s anti-corruption and security unit, the list includes some high-profile names but nobody from England or Pakistan, whose players did not take part due to security issues, ‘The Sunday Times’ claimed.
“Some betting patterns were very suspicious at IPL 2,” the report said quoting a source.
Despite long-standing concerns about the integrity of the IPL – whose commissioner Lalit Modi is suspended amid corruption allegations – England players are expected to be available for the entirety of next year’s IPL for first time.
Three Pakistan players – Salman Butt, Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir – were suspended by the ICC for their alleged involvement in sport-fixing in the Lord Test and the trio returned home on Saturday.

Disgusting and scary, very scary. I don't think people are brave enough to even contemplate. Cricket in India will go into a coma if any of the major stars are found to be involved.

^^ I think thats why ICC didn't touch any of the 29 "stars" because people around the globe will stop following cricket and then it will collapse even for short period will be catastrophic.

Captain.. if true.. its pathetic.. lets ban anyone caught guilty.. ponting sachin or steyn... big stars like azhar cronje and jadeja have been banned before... it didnt stop cricket..
I am not buying it because all theyr saying is "some results were suspicious".. but apparently its an ASCU report so theres got to be more in it.. that cant be it..

Let's name the names and ban everyone involved. ICC can't pick and choose when deciding who to ban.
yeah but how can you ban them? we will face the same problem that scotland yard is facing today: lack of criminal evidence to prosecute players given the requirements of british jurisprudence....
given the video evidence, majority of the public believes that butt, aamir and asif were involved (at some level) in the scam but it is not enough for judicial prosecution...for instance, among many other finer details, Scotland yard also needs to prove in front of the court that an actual bet was placed on those no-balls...that is the toughest part of this fixing problem...
it is the same thing when we get the ticket…majority of us know that we were at fault but many of us still challenge it in court and many times succeed in overruling the verdict amid lack of "enough" judicil evidence.....
the other option could be to ban corrupt players based on qualitative investigation conducted by an independent panel appointed by ICC....they will give their recommendations and ICC (and every freakin board) has to oblige to those recommendations....just like qayuum commission of pakistan...i believe that is why ICC has placed an independent panel in place to investigate the current scam as ICC knows very well that the scotland yard will not be able to prosecute the players...ICC, as I see it, has taken the right step ....

Don't be so senti brother. Just having your name in a report does not warrant a ban. We dont even know whts in the report. All theyve said is "some batting was suspicious". That does not compare to having all the videos and history and recordings like the spot fixing drama in ENG does.

captain.. there might not be enough actual evidence to prove them guilty in the uk legal system or whtvr.. but most people including you are convinced that they are guilty... now my question is that when people know they are guilty.. why do they keep trying to defend them with the "wait they haent been proven guilty by the uk legal system yet"...

It doesn't matter what I or anyone else "believe". We don't have the evidence to either convict them or clear them. If Police or ICC can provide any evidence then they are guilty. Until then they are not guilty regardless of what you/I or anyone else believe.

I guess defense comes subconsciously, trying to find a way for them to get by. Its fight of consciousness vs subconsciousness :D In my opinion it should've been PCB's responsibility to shove them aside and ban them simply based on the video knowing that Majeed guy constantly hovers around the team.
