whats your call on it? at what time does personal reponsibility end?
Philip Morris must not be a good place to be today.
This is the largest in the history. I am kinda curious, how much PM must have offered to settle it. Jeez, the lady will die, no doubt... but her future generations will love her forever.
Pathetic. You smoke because you want to. Not because they stuff it down your throat. Plus with the current economic situation taking cash away from major employment institutions is not a smart thing at all. PM stock will fall tomorrow, not like the stocks arent falling already.

Settlement is eight hundred something thousand dollars. The 28 billion is Punisment, I dunno where it goes but not to the woman.
I think its a great idea. First smoke your lungs out. Have fun with your friends while drinking and smoking. And then sue the darned company for "not informing about the ill effects of smoking"! Like, what are you, an idiot? Can't you see what you are doing? How can blowing smoke out of your lungs be beneficial to you?
But hey, this is America. The land of opportunity. I am already collecting receipts of the toothpastes I buy. One day, I am sure, I will be able to sue them for a few million dollars, when my teeth fell off.
Here is a quote from CNN’s website
**Philip Morris Cos., the No. 1 cigarette maker, was ordered Friday to pay a record $28 billion to a 64-year-old woman with lung cancer who blamed her tobacco addiction on the company’s failure to warn her of the risks of smoking.
Philip Morris vowed to appeal after a Los Angeles jury awarded Betty Bullock of Newport Beach, Calif., what the company said was the largest single judgment against it.
In September, Bullock won $850,000 in compensatory damages. Friday’s award was intended to punish the company. **
It seems, its going to the lady (less whatever is reversed in appeal) or her survivors, whoever.
