28 dead in Karachi on the start of ramadhan...SAD!

**salaam,

i had hoped at least that when the Ramadhan arrives, the killings in Karachi will cease for the duration of the the sacred month, if NOT completely stop. unfortunately, according to Dunya and Samaa TV, 28 innocent lives have been lost in target/ethnic attacks.

It’s sad and shameful that we have NO Hurmat for the month. i dunno what can be done to stop that. to me, it’s a law and order problem and the law enforcing agencies have the legal and moral responsibility to stop that. Allah will inshaa Allah hold responsible those who commit those crimes/sins and also those who do have the powers but do NOT stop it.

Allah is mahine kii Hurmat aur raHmat ke sadqe ma’soom jaanoN aur maaloN aur unkii izzat kii Hifaazat farmaaye aur mujrimeen ko Khudaaii 'azaab se do chaar kare…aameen****

Re: 28 dead in Karachi on the start of ramadhan...SAD!

Yes, it is very sad.

There are several parties involved, but there is one party **always **involved, and responsible for the **majority **of killings since the 1980's, of course the MQM!

And this govt is too busy appeasing the terrorists to do anything about it!

Re: 28 dead in Karachi on the start of ramadhan...SAD!

well, these accusations will go back and forth but the buck stops at the law enforcement agencies...it's their job to stop...why don't they think for the sake of Muslims and Islam...period!

Re: 28 dead in Karachi on the start of ramadhan...SAD!

Because they are not supported by the govt in doing their job.

As mentioned, the govt is too busy appeasing the terrorists.

Previous operations against the MQM, and others, show what can be done if the govt has the will to do it.

Re: 28 dead in Karachi on the start of ramadhan...SAD!

i do NOT buy that excuse...police, para-military force and even army is answerable to Allah...they MUST do something...whoever is doing this, it's irrelevant. if the politicians are crook, they must be kicked out...by FORCE!

Khair!

Re: 28 dead in Karachi on the start of ramadhan...SAD!

Shows that the people really behind this may not be from inside but from somewhere else. Not eliminating the inside elements altogether.

Also, the agencies do seem to have either part in this or too afraid to go against influential elements running the show.

Another big problem is that even when gencies do something, they are not unbiased.

Re: 28 dead in Karachi on the start of ramadhan...SAD!

I would like to agree with you here but truth is both government and law enforcement agencies are incompetent, remember when MQM was out of government the killing spree was still on, who was government appeasing then?

Re: 28 dead in Karachi on the start of ramadhan…SAD!

^Government is incompetent, but i dont think law enforcement agencies have been given the necessary support to stop killings. People in law enforcemnt agencies themselves have been killed, how do you expect them to take the criminal elements on. Brother of the police officer investigating the case of Wali Khan Babar was gunned down. http://www.dawn.com/2011/04/08/five-held-in-journalists-murder-case.html

The US report on karachi mentioned that MQM alone has 10,000 active militants and 25,000 in reserves. Add to it those of ANP and PPP. That may be more than Taleban fighters. Frankly the situation CANNOT be controlled by law enforcement agencies operating like they usually do. It requires an operation.

Re: 28 dead in Karachi on the start of ramadhan...SAD!

What Ramadan have to do with the killing, animals don't care if it is ramadan or not, they kill ( even animal won't kill unless they are scared for their life or they are hungry).

During Ayam-e-Jahliyaat, the Jahil Arabs, use to respect and stop fighting in few months, Ramadan was one of them, i guess these killers and their supporters are way more Jahil than Arabs of those days...

Re: 28 dead in Karachi on the start of ramadhan...SAD!

I was very sad to watch reports regarding empty food streets (including Burns Road) of Karachi on first roza as compared to other cities, where ppl were busy purchasing stuff for their Sehri. Such a shame for all the parties and government, who don't respect the holy month.

Re: 28 dead in Karachi on the start of ramadhan...SAD!

**Again, as long mqm is there Karachi will remain as killing fields, who so over rule at the center. Mark my words. Even in Mush rule, this party genocide people on 12 May 2007 just to stop CJ's visit to Karachi.

Solution: Complete curfew in Karachi for two weeks and start cleansing of illegal arms from the center of terror i.e. 90 and move outwards to clean Karachi for ever. Kill those b@star ds who resist.**

Re: 28 dead in Karachi on the start of ramadhan...SAD!

exactly! that's what i meant...are we worse off than those times of jaahiliyah. if it's true then it's more of an azaab than just a case of lawlessness.

Re: 28 dead in Karachi on the start of ramadhan...SAD!

Fakhta,

I am disapointed that you have opened this thread. On the world Affairs forum, I always condemn Pakistanis who open threads which attack some element of Indian society. You seem to have fallen into that trap by opening a thread on what is a sensitive issue for Pakistanis.

On this issue, Pakistan has major unresolved issues, such as ethnic inequality, and the interference of the ISI and Army in politics. This set of killings are probably an ISI attempt to breath some life in Haqiqi, which is nothing but an ISI stooge, so as to possibly stage a coup. In my opinion, they should cut with this bs and simply overthrow the Zardari government. Almost everyone would support that.

This thread will simply produce standard responses, from the Jihadis, the ISI supporters, the Imran Khan supporters, the Sindhi natiionalist etc, and yes from MQM supporters as well.

I notice Real Deal and the Sain almost on cue come up with their standard lets the military in response. The Jihadi and Jiyala singing from the same hym sheet. Imagine if India send their army in Mumbai to deal with ethnic problems. Would you support that.

Re: 28 dead in Karachi on the start of ramadhan...SAD!

Can someone give a brief history of this ethnic conflict. Whats going on in Karachi? is it Sindis against Urdu speakers, or Pathans. What is the percentage of urdu speakers in Karachi?

Are Sindis jealous of urdu spekaers becoz of their success or vice versa? Who and why are people getting killed?

Re: 28 dead in Karachi on the start of ramadhan...SAD!

**salaam Khan saaHib,

i'm sorry but i opened this because i, as a Muslim, was pained by what has been happening there and the Law Enforcement Agencies do nothing...they have failed miserably. it's their job to stop.

i understand what you are saying and i do agree completely that everyone is towing their party-line but, it's about time that everyone rises up and saves Pakistan and the Muslim Ummah from disaster. it's NOT a game that will bring peace in the country.

since we know that the civilian govt. has failed miserably in every aspect of good governance, so it's the duty of the civilians to bring about a revolution and kick those responsible out. Qateel Shifaai kaa ek she'r hai:

ham ne to "Qateel" ussa munaafiq nahiiN dekhaa
jo zulm to sahtaa hai, baGHaawat nahiiN kartaa**

i think somebody has to take responsibility. let's hope someone will do something about it...May Allah bless us the Muslim Ummah...aameen

Re: 28 dead in Karachi on the start of ramadhan...SAD!

There is no ethnic conflict in between general public. It is the bloody political parties who are playing ethnic cards. No one is jealous from other ethnic groups. In practice ppl from different ethnic groups share their happiness and sorrows and eat from one plate. There may be competition in working environment, there may be professional jealousy, but I've never experienced any bias on ethnic basis.

Re: 28 dead in Karachi on the start of ramadhan...SAD!

khann with noon ghuna, when your posts are single track supporting blindly mqm, the criminals, don't whine if you get equal and opposite reaction. You have labelled everyone prejudice who writes against mqm but forget when you write nonsense against all other ethnicities.

Re: 28 dead in Karachi on the start of ramadhan…SAD!

People in police/army get killed by one criminal or another, during robbery, during “cross firing” of criminals/terrorists, their families get affected etc. thats the risk they take when they take up such jobs. By not providing sufficient support to the LEAs govt certifies itself of incompetency and carelessness towards the public it says to “serve”. All these 10,000s of militants in Karachi or all over Pakistan came into existence because of the incompetence of government and LEAs. Neither arms for these militants were not dropped from sky nor they grow them on trees.

There is no way in hell any army/police can cleanup Karachi in 2 weeks. If anything, it will take years.

Re: 28 dead in Karachi on the start of ramadhan...SAD!

if not army and police ... then wht are we left with??

and true .. 2 weeks is not a long period!! it will probably take months!!
but please dont say years!! :(

Re: 28 dead in Karachi on the start of ramadhan...SAD!

There are more militants in Karachi than police officers. There is no way Police or Rangers can keep law and order without resorting to a full scale operation.
