President appoints 17 High Court judges in Sindh, Punjab
ISLAMABAD, Dec 14 (APP)- President Pervez Musharraf has appointed 17 additional judges at the high courts in Sindh and Punjab for a period of one year, according to a notification issued Friday by the Ministry of Law and Justice. Nine additional judges have been appointed at the Lahore High Court and they are Zafar Iqbal Chaudhry, Khawja Farooq Saeed, Saghir Ahmed, Mohammad Akram Qureshi, Zubda-tul-Hussain, Khurshid Anwar Bhinder, S. Ali Hassan Rizi, Mazhar Hussain Minhas and Saifur Rehman. Eight additional judges appointed at the Sindh High Court are Agha Rafiq Ahmed Khan, Syed Pir Ali Shah, Bin Yamin, Arshad Noor Khan, Dr. Qamaruddin Bohra, Ghulam Dastgir Shahani, Farrukh Zia Sheikh and Abdul Qadir Khan. The one-year tenure of the new judges will start on the date they take oath of their office, the notification said.
Peshawar High Court gets six new judges
PESHAWAR, Dec 13: Six newly-appointed additional judges of the Peshawar High Court were sworn in under the Provisional Constitution Order here on Thursday night. The high court’s Acting Chief Justice, Juctice Saleem Khan, administered the oath to Justice Shahjee Rehman Khan, Justice Ghulam Mohyuddin Malik, Justice Yahya Zahid Gillani, Justice Ziauddin Khattak, Justice Musadiq Hussain Gillani and Justice Mohammad Alam. The judges have been appointed for one year, says a notification. Five of the new judges belong to the cadre of district and sessions judge while the sixth is a lawyer from Mardan. Justice Shahjee Rehman was serving as the presiding officer of an anti-terrorism court in Peshawar and Justice Ghulam Mohyuddin Malik was posted in Charssada. They are senior-most among the district and sessions judges. Justice Yahya Gillani was fifth on the seniority list, Justice Ziauddin Khattak was sixth and Justice Mussadiq Gillani, who has been serving as PHC’s registrar, was 10th. With these appointments, the strength of judges in the high court has risen to 13 while the sanctioned strength is 15.

3 more Supreme Court judges appointed
ISLAMABAD, Dec 9: President Pervez Musharraf has appointed three more judges to the Supreme Court. According to a press release issued by the Law Ministry, Justice Mian Hamid Farooq and Justice Syed Sakhi Hussain Bokhari of the Lahore High Court and Justice Syed Zawwar Hussain Jaffery, a retired judge of the High Court of Sindh, were elevated to the apex court.
