Seeing SA collapse in such unbelievable fashion today, Jayawardene must now be doubly confused and really wondering whether to bat first if he won the toss in the final.
We all felt that SLA’s best chance against the Aussies was to bat first and score 270+ because they possess a potent and varied bowling attack
Pakistan’s humiliation in 1999 WC Final is an even lesser reason to bat first against the Aussies
He might prefer to chase (cf. 1996) now hoping that his bowlers can restrict the Aussies to < 250
but in 2003 WC semi final SLA batsmen made a real mess chasing a very gettable 213 for victory
So there are no easy answers against these damn Aussies IMHO.
