I don't think one could really blame the pitch. The pressure of facing Aussies in a knock-out game and more importantly poor shot selection (Smith and Kallis needlessly charging down the pitch, so many loose snicks behind to the keeper etc.) is what's undone them today (cf. Pakistan in 1999 WC Final)
