Re: 23rd Match, Group F : Pakistan v Bangladesh at Cape Town, Thu. Sept 20th
This performence has nothing to do with the incentives. The extra money and the President calling Malik should increase the players energy level, not make it less.
You could tell from the players body language that they were taking this game easy. The intensity was missing. The way Asif was bowling..mid 60's mph. No one was putting in an extra effort...I guess they were trying to preserve their energy for the semi-final. And Malik said himself that he asked Asif to bowl slow since he thought the pitch is slow. Asif and Tanveer were trying a lot of slower deliveries, perhaps practising it for the semi-final?
Incentives or no incentives...this was not the greatest performence by Pakistan...but a win is a win...and hopefully we'll see the intensity back for the Semi-final.
Salman Butt should be dropped..but that is not going to happen since he is the vice captain. But, since he has to play, he should open..because he definetly cannot play spinners at all. At least against fast bowlers...he has some chance of scoring some boundries.
I am not against calling Malik. That's ok but don't you think $10k for a group win is a bit over the top. Wait for the tournament to finish atleast. Even the rich Indian, Australian and English boards don't offer such incentives after every small win

I know inshallah we will make it to Finals. But can we beat Aussies again in finals? We can only wait to find out . Aussies are such big match player, freakin all of them!

It was a pretty painful victory, lets just hope asif was bowling slow on purpose and not carrying an injury. He wasn't too special against Australia either. I think in 20/20 Afridi at the top is a must. Maybe Nazir down the order isn't a bad idea.

Well I think it was a good gesture on the President's behalf. Pakistani cricket has been in turmoil for a long time now. There have been so many contoversies, scandals, death, dissapointing WC. After a long, long time...The team has done well in a tournament. I know its just 20/20 but beating an in form Sri Lanka, and the mighty Aussies back to back in 24 hours is a great achievement. Also, the tie with India was a fantastic effort as well. So I think the players somewhat deserved after playing some good, fighting cricket after a long time.
