23,000 Baloch hired for government jobs, says Aziz
ISLAMABAD: Some 23,000 of the 30,000 government jobs created for Baloch people have been filled, Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz said on Saturday at a meeting at PM’s House to review the progress of development projects in Balochistan…
He said the Rs 164 billion allocated by the federal government for 140 development projects in Balochistan was proof of the government’s commitment to develop Balochistan. The government has given Rs 100 million to each district in Balochistan to initiate projects, he said.

Very encouraging! :k:
With Baloch literacy rate hovering around 25/30 percent, the employment opportunities for them are naturally scarce. Government or private companies, with all their good intentions, can’t do much to hire those who can’t even read and write. On top of that, you have centuries old traditions and tribal systems which don’t synchronize with any civilized modern way of life. You can blame your federal government for not making huge investments in higher education sector in the past, but you can’t blame Islamabad or Quetta for not teaching you how to read and write. In 2006, if you’re sincere with yourself, and not sincere with your Sardar only, you can attain basic education from the local schools or even without going to any formal school. Same holds true for the illiterate masses around the country.
Nevertheless, with the current level of investment in the province, we’ll see significant changes very soon. These changes may not be welcomed by the crumbling tribal establishment and their cronies, but it will empower people and free them of the slavish lifestyle they’ve resigned themselves to for a very long time.

I am not a Balochi but are we saying that 60 years of negligance and suppression is to be compensated by 30,000 jobs. No doubt its step in the right direction but a lot more has to be done to rectify our criminal negligance.

Yup, Balochistan is receiving unprecedented development money and projects, especially in the last 6 years, which pained a few terrorist tribals but will benefit the many.
Re: 23,000 Baloch hired for Gov. jobs: Prime Minister
what we need to bare in mind is that ballochistan is our largest province but home to only 4% of total population. this sparcity is a major factor why tribes have flourished. pakistan must be praised for whatever services it has managed to provide in the past especially considering its humble budget and other needs.
Re: 23,000 Baloch hired for Gov. jobs: Prime Minister
It's 23,000 more jobs than the likes of Bugti the terrorist ever gave them. He just expelled and tortured tens of thousands of Baloch from his area, which this government has now also freed or let back home.
Re: 23,000 Baloch hired for Gov. jobs: Prime Minister
yeahh the govt of Pakistan and the nation at lare is guilty of 60 years of neglect, but in pointing the finger at that, lets not forget the centuries of suppression, sardari system, that the baloch powers that be, have used to ammas power and wealth at the expense of the population.
so aside from negligence of last 60 years, the challenge is to overcome the criminal overlording of centuries as well.

I don’t care about Altaf, but it is clear that those people who are defending the mass murderer Bugti don’t really care much for the Balochi’s, especially as they cannot bear to hear any good news for the people.
Nawab Akber Bugti was declared a national hero by all these political and religious, intellectuals, human rights and civil rights organisation.
As many as 29 organisations which included almost all the non-governmental organisations (NGOs), civil rights and human rights, have also signed a declaration endorsing support for all those strikes, demonstrations, rallies and strikes called particularly for Nawab Bugti and their complete participation in the events.
