my chipmunk is 21 months old.. i have few concerns, if someone help

  1. she havent started talking properly..i mean nothing more than mama, baba, taa..and few more like that.. she understands simple insructions though..is it ok of her age?
2)how to potty train? i mean at what age you guys have started?
  2. how to make her go off bfeeding?

Re: 21 months old

to wean her offer more milk in a cup. start with crazy straw cups and start bringing gaps between b-feedings taking them 2x a day to once a day and finally stop. offer more solids so milk intake is reduced.

abt talking try teaching her words slowly. if she repeats and takes interest then she is good and no need to worry much. some kids talk late. arrange play dates for her, send her to a day home once a week to allow her to socialize and practice verbal skills. if u still worry contact a speech therapist and it really makes difference.

I have always started potty training around 9 months. that doesn't mean my kids get off diaper soon they just learn the concept of going to washroom and sit on potty as a daily ritual. we always start with mornings and bed times and then increase visits through out the day.for the older one we bought fancy potty with sticker etc but youngest one went direct to big potty and i think thats much better. once your kid understands the concept and can pee and poo on the potty, also shows signs of restlessness with urge to pee, its time to take off the diaper. I emphasize u take off the diaper for good. be prepared for accidents. keep plenty of sham cloths and carpet cleaners handy. within few days she will be trained. even for going outside don't use diaper. coz if u keep switching b/w diapers and no diapers it confuses them and they take longer to get potty trained. for myself we use no diaper at night time. i deal with accidents and try ways to avoid accidents such as no fluid 30-60 mins b4 bed, no soda or juices in the evening, pee b4 going to bed, take them to washroom once during night esp if they toss around or make soft noises while sleeping. u can use plastic panties with liners or protective bed sheets.
