Today's WSJ had an article abt Wells Fargo fast approaching largest mkt cap in world. WFC had a 14 pct rise in net income. While JPMorgan had 19 pct decline.
Cause jpm has lot of activity in wall street. Trading eg. Also bigger global footprint. WFC has started lending to main street. Consumers and businesses. JPM also bothered by legal troubles. 20 billion big ones have to be paid.
The last para mentions as an afterthought the following
WFC 1q results got boost from a tax gain. And from setting aside less for future loss.
Seems to me this is crucial information. Article could have provided numbers for said items.
