ISAF will leave. The US will leave. The Taliban and the Northern Alliance will end up fighting again if there is no peace deal. So effectively the country will be divided in to half if not more pieces. What should be our game plan when that happens?

I think we should leave afghanistan to its fate for the time being and focus more on our own country, development is needed (especially in GB, Fata, KP and balochistan). We should extend any help Afghanistan requires from us without giving the impression of interfering in their internal matters. Additionally we should improve our standing in the neighborhood.

Step by step seal off the border to Afghanistan ..... i know it's a huge task (or nearly impossible) but this way we r better off in the long run

If we are somehow able to bring peace to fata, political reforms and economical activities then we should be safe in any eventuality of afghanistan. As then the Pashtun areas might want to align with Pakistan. But if we have unstable and unsafe fata we might see renewed calls for free pashtunistan.

Border control can be be implemented if the government wants, it's better to have a viable FATA having good relations with the Pashtun areas of Afghanistan as compared to a neglected FATA which might at some stage think its better off going away with Afghanistan.

Let Afghani people decide their fate, on our side we should seal the border and tell them that whoever crosses the border without their hands up will end "up".

Are you Pakistani? Then you wouldn't want to know what the rest of the world thinks of Pakistan. Your words are both short sighted and hateful. Afghanistan and Pakistan are not going anywhere -- we're neighbors, which means that we will need to be involved what is going on over there, before the mess spills over into Pakistan.

Actually Pak-one the Afghans blame anyone for anything. In my region everybody hates Iran more than Pakistan. They however all hate Pakistanis even though they have family living here. Hell some tell me to take stuff back for their parents yet bad mouth Pakistan at the same time. Lets not get started on how they talk about China and the US. Everybody is to blame but them. And i say this with the experience of living for 3 years in Afghanistan.

Either way learn to live with different opinion, we already provide shelter to our so-called Muslim brothers & sisters from Afghanistan but as most of the Afghani’s are the world most worst people living in the cave era and can be bought by any nation if history is the guide the money kept flowing there is peace in this freaking-up country otherwise same old bloodshed. cursed place i must say.

CM, as you know know, geopolitics is a different beast than personal preferences. The fact is that we can not continue to have to worry about both Indian and Afghan borders. The Indian "consulates" dotting the Afghan landscape. For example, the average American hates Pakistan, the current administration hates Pakistan, yet they have to deal with us due to the geostrategic concerns.
Afghanistan's problems today (extremism, refugees), become Pakistan's problems tomorrow. I am calling for Pakistan to support any and all elements that will ensure peace between the two nations.
