2014-Lahore Shopping Help!

Hi Ladies

I know there are threads on this already, but most of them are 2-3 years old.

I am looking for recommendations for shopping for good quality ready-made and three piece semi-formal casual suits for women and girls in Lahore. Particularly embroidered/sequins/panel suits in chiffon, georgette like materials like the attached pictures (with even lighter “kaam”). Please let me know names of stores/areas to shop in and what reasonable prices are for such suits (they’re sold for $200+USD here!) I’ve only been to Lahore once and that was back in 2007, so I don’t really have an idea of what to expect. Also, how much to darzis charge nowadays and how long does it take them? I will be in Lahore Nov/Dec for about 3-4 weeks.

Also, any recommendations for good quality artificial jewelry sets? Ghararas for little girls?

Thanks much!!

Re: 2014-Lahore Shopping Help!

Shops in fortress stadium, liberty and anarkali are your best bet for all kinds of clothes and artificial jewelry. Try going on weekdays in the am to get better prices. Also check raja sahib in liberty or model town for clothes/jewelry/kids clothes under one roof. For high end stuff, gulberg galleria and mall of Lahore and mm alam road is filled with branded shops. Personally I love ghararas by Minnie minors for girls, they often have discounts of upto 40 % otherwise they are pricey. Junaid jamshed and hopscotch also has fancy clothing for kids. I have pics of fancy formal clothing for little girls from these shops, pm me if you want to see pics.

Re: 2014-Lahore Shopping Help!

In Pakistan you can get these suits for under $100 especially if you shop at Anarkali or even Rang mahal. Of course, if you go the designer or high end route you can get suits for even more than 1000 dollars per suit. There are all kinds of prices depending upon the store where you shop at. you may get suits like you posted pictures of for around $100 or even less for suits with less Kaam.

Re: 2014-Lahore Shopping Help!

Liberty and Fortress are your best bet. the stuff ranges from 7000-15000. Anarkali has nice jewelry but I wasn't crazy about tehir selection of readymade suits....they did have a nice collection of heavy partywear, but that would take weeks to make.

My family has a darzi so I'm not sure how the regular ones charge or work, but with ours, we give him extra and he brings us our suits quickly and delivers on time.

Re: 2014-Lahore Shopping Help!

thanks for the tips! i'm not looking for designer wear, just nice quality stuff (even replicas).

raania- can you send me some pics of the kids clothes and the prices? are they usually negotiable at shops like those?

Re: 2014-Lahore Shopping Help!

^nabz I will send you the pics I have. Prices are fixed at branded shops.

Re: 2014-Lahore Shopping Help!

For little kids clothes you can buy from this vendor:

Re: 2014-Lahore Shopping Help!

Not it looking to buy online, as I will be in Lahore already.

Re: 2014-Lahore Shopping Help!

Regular darzis not hi fi ones charge around 1000 rupees and it could go up depending on how much work there is in a suit.

Re: 2014-Lahore Shopping Help!

This is not an online shop but a physically available vendor who you can visit. I gave you the page address so you can see the designs and message the page owner to set up a meeting whenever you are in the city.

waow what wonderful dresses.

Re: 2014-Lahore Shopping Help!

thanks for the tips! keep them coming please :).

also, how long does it generally take darzis to get suits sewn?

Re: 2014-Lahore Shopping Help!

do you ladies know if you can buy these types of suits ready-made (instead of haggling with darzis)???

any recommendations for good quality ready made suits in Lahore?

Re: 2014-Lahore Shopping Help!

Same, shops in liberty, fortress, anarkali. Stitched, unstitched, semi stitched, Darzis, laces, dyers, shoes, jewelry everything!! Do take someone familiar with the shopping areas to guide you. My relatives from abroad also shop from moon market in allama Iqbal town.

If your budget is more and you want brands then mm alam road, gulberg galleria, the multibrand stores like ensemble, pfdc etc. also there are stores like chinyere, Khaadi khaas, threads and motifs etc.

Re: 2014-Lahore Shopping Help!

thanks so much raania :). my MIL/SIL live in Lahore and I asked them but they recommended I get kurtis from Khaadi, Nishat, etc and bring my own leggings and shawls from here. they stressed only buying ready made outfits as darzis have a million and one excuses so i was worried i would be limited in the kinds of outfits i could purchase :/. i really want to get nice casual/semi formal outfits that are not kurtis. any specific shops in thos locations you recommend for good variety and deals?

Re: 2014-Lahore Shopping Help!

trip went well, alhamdulillah. did most of my shopping in liberty, fortress, some in defence and got some ready made outfits from auriga. prices were a lot higher than i thought, especially darzi charges (1000 rps for simple suits to 3000 for chiffon suits with lining!).

Re: 2014-Lahore Shopping Help!
