2011 Trend Questions

Salam ladies!

I’m doing some stuff for a blog, and I was trying to research South Asian weddings trends for 2011. It’s hard to find stuff like that sometimes, however, on the internet because it literally just brings up a bunch of jumbled garbage that has nothing in it.

I notice that a lot of the latest pictures have lehenge with reallllllly long kameezein. I know that was the fashion with shalwar kameezein lately, but I’m not sure what to make of a really long shirt on top of a long skirt. The lehenga almost feels unnecessary. But I don’t know much about this trend, I’ve only seen pictures. Can’t really find any info

I was wondering if there was anything going on these days that you find interesting, or what you’re noticing is the latest stuff to come out of Pakistan wedding wise. If there’s a tend you love or a trend you hate. Just talk to me whats going on with Paki weddings these days (or if you know anything about any other South Asian culture, that would be helpful too)

Re: 2011 Trend Questions

velvet velvet velvet- its something ive noticed that keeps creeping along subtly say in the sleeves of in the workmanship of clothes, from the bust to the edging- and now its full skirts to full dresses- velvet my friend is either a very big trend that's in fashion now or going to be one during this year. Lot of greens and purple and deep red velvets even the dark blues.

that's what I've noticed anyway!

Re: 2011 Trend Questions

shirts are getting shorter from what i've seen! i was seeing a return to knee length kameezes. it'll probably pick up pace toward the end of the year, i'm thinking, as opposed to right away. right now, the trend is for kameezain so long, you can see maybe an inch of pant under them. they're also very loose and a-line so its great if you're preggo!

Re: 2011 Trend Questions

Despite that fact that a lot of people are expecting short shirts to make a come back, I'm not seeing them much. If you look at Nomi Ansari's latest collection or any of the lawn advertisements that have been launched this year, you'll see that long shirts are still very much in. I just spoke to my cousin in kHi and she confirmed that she's not seeing them on people AND that people aren't ready for short shirts. The trousers are definitely more fitted. The safest thing would be to keep shirts 3-4 inches below the knee....not too long or too short :-)
