Re: 2011 Brides
Even quality you do not have to worry about! I was so amazed five years ago when I went there and stayed for an entire summer… I literally did not have to bring any of the stuff I even did bring. They have everything there… including tons of imports.
You can’t go wrong with bringing basic medications though.. just for the reason that it is annoying to go out and get the correct medication when one gets sick. When one is ill you want/need the medicine right away. Most of the medications you can find there tho … the name difference is what takes some time to get used to.
Also - I would recommend bringing your own makeup (foundation, primer, powder, and concealer, mascara, etc.)- like the basics. Only because I found that the makeup there that is a Western brand is actually MORE expensive … lol. But you can find everything there… inshAllah you will be fine.
You will re-connect with those cousins and the time will fly.
Just keep in mind that its not permanent and to just enjoy the experience!
I feel like as the time goes on … the stress is getting a bit less … only because I starting to feel the same as you… that it’s time to get this show on the road. lol. Sometimes anxiety still hits me. Especially since I do not have DJ yet.. and that is the biggest thing not booked yet! But I’m actually doing much better … I received my brunch dress and its beautiful. Now only have to get my shaadi and walima dress from Pakistan! My khala is doing all of my shopping in Pakistan for me. I have had to relegate alot of planning aspects of my wedding to others … but accepting it has what has eased my nerves.
I am not having a mehndi either. It was my idea for many reasons. I will just be having a simple at home dolkhi/mayoun. Before I was upset that I didnt have as much of a hand in planning things for my own wedding … and that would cause stress. But… still… everything happens for a reason. My mom is planning my wedding and dholki/mayoun. My MIL is planning my walima. And my khalaa is doing all my shopping.
I’m more excited about the honeymoon and finally living with my luv
It’s been a long time coming! Can’t wait to get a place of our own and decorate it together!!! It will be stressful… but a good stress. I have lived on my own for 9 years… most of the times with atleast one roomate …and recently alone.. so I do not think my lifestyle will change much. Not too much adjusting! In fact I will be happy to not be alone.
It is a beautiful combo. ![]()
