They made it way too boxy. Unline the ML series, their GL is also very boxy, and frankly I don't like these designs.

HSK this one that u posted it was a status symbol for sometime because ppl were importing it from europe, it was not being dsold here. then they started selling them here and for like 3)k+ less than what it cost the ppl who were importing them. that killed it :D

I had heard that G class was discontinued, but I guess the rumors were pre-mature. The thing is very pricey, and is probably sourced from German military design (like US' Hummer line-up) and is considered great for off-roading and stuff. I never liked its design, especially at that price point ($90k plus). I guess there are enough suckers out there who'd plop close to a hundred grand on this guy. Good for them! Some people value exclusivity and this dude certainly is pretty rare on the roads (at least here in the US) - likely due to not providing enough value for money.

I have a buddy from work that imported a 2 door. The smart alek that he was got a cheap 1985 G-Wagen and facelifted it to a 2005 for around 10 grand.

Faisal, you’re right about it being military grade. Many were bought by the CDN forces after their golf carts started ripped to shreds in Afghanistan. The design has yet to change in the last 30 years. Mercedes has announced it wont discontinue the G- Class anytime soon.

The interior might be spectacular but it’s all about image. So much so that there’s an option to get a Maybach interior.
