Re: 2007 Toronto GupShup PicNic Suggestions/Preferences
LOL.
The tough part was for those that actually carted heavy items....like coolers full of ice/drinks, charcoal, portable bbq's, etc., etc. I know because despite having help, I know how much I had to carry.
Re: 2007 Toronto GupShup PicNic Suggestions/Preferences
yeah i agree
But isn't that going to be a problem, regardless of the destination ?
I mean all the stuff, food, coolers etc., has to be taken for ride - somehow
Re: 2007 Toronto GupShup PicNic Suggestions/Preferences
taken for a ride is one thing.....but carted over sidewalks, on/off ferries etc., etc. was just a tough haul.
if my car is parked 200 or 400 feet away from the picnic area, I can have the option to make several trips to load/unload it.....but if you saw my list of items from the centre island event, you'd be surprised I managed to get it all there in one trip with four people a rug-rat and an infant!
heck....I still love the island. I would do it again. Just be smarter this time and allocate the supplies better so I'm not carrying the bulk of it.

when my family goes to niagra, we always stop and bbq and this park...it has a lot of open area, a kiddie pool for kids, a playground and its only a 10 min drive away from the falls..its not that flower clock thing..but close to there....we can do the bbq and stuff then, and then head to the falls/clifton/casino afterwards...
i never been to heartlake, kelso..so i have no comment...heartlake is closeby..so thats always good..
ive been to boyd..but that was ages ago in high school..its nice..lots of open space....i think u can do bbq there..u have to check....
i went to chinquisy park last year....its ok..it has a kiddie pool...a petting zoo for kids, paddle boating....there is open space there too...i remember my cousins playing cricket there....
our family park is usually cenntinnial park...thats our staple for canada day...they have a wading pool, tons of open space, a gokarting track..and on canada day , they have a fair..complete with fireworks.
ever hear of albion hills? we used to go there when i was little...that was fun...they had a beach too.
well there u go...my input...i hope it goes into good use...lol..
Re: 2007 Toronto GupShup PicNic Suggestions/Preferences
Maybe this time we can plan ahead and make arrangements for some sorta cart that could assist in carrying the heavy stuff.
I tried to arrange that last time too.....didn't work.
Getting the stuff from the dock to the picnic area is not that difficult. It's getting it from the parking and onto the ferry that's the issue. There is no cart/wagon to assist with that. I even thought of purchasing the kiddie wagon last year but found that it was not enough to carry all the stuff....and to top it off...the silly thing wouldn't fit in my car!!!
If everyone likes that place, as I do...then we can still do it there. As I said, I can always delegate other folks to bring some of the stuff that I brought. If we distribute the list of items required more equitably, then the few will not suffer for the benefit of the many.
Re: 2007 Toronto GupShup PicNic Suggestions/Preferences
Thank you chachoo. That will be of great help....especially with the two strong, young men that you have at your disposal.
I will also be asking folks to bring things like suitable serving utensils etc. that will be required with the food items that they are bringing. Again, this will prevent me from being in a "bring everything that MIGHT be needed" position.
Re: 2007 Toronto GupShup PicNic Suggestions/Preferences
Kelso is also not bad place
i dont think it would be anymore crowded than Center Island on a hot summer day. A very good second option - AFTER Center Island off course :D
Re: 2007 Toronto GupShup PicNic Suggestions/Preferences
why don't we just go to falls, i think i know the park afshi is talking about, its a little crowded but its not bad, and if anyone needs water they can jump the fence :D
Re: 2007 Toronto GupShup PicNic Suggestions/Preferences
if we have it at the falls, is there a possibility of the nearby amreekan crowd joining in ? who lives within an hour's or 2 hour's drive or so, on the US side ?
