Maybe squeezing through on goal differential because neither Italy nor The Czech Republic are scoring machines. However, I can see USA going home early just as easy as advancing. It all depends on which two teams are on the best form.
I think beside Brazil and England the following has potential to lift the trophy if all went fine and luck is on their side. Means, they are equally deserving teams.
Ukraine
Netherlands
Czech Rep.
Sweden
Argentina are the biggest chockers and so are the Mexicans. I love to see these two teams wining but we know their issues.
Germany…hmmm! Time will tell, I think they will be overwhelmed by a neabouring country.
cheetah i hope they come sooner than later coz then we can all stop supporting brazil, argentina, italy etc and get behind the “white crescent and star on a green background”.
as a regular amateur football player(UK) and having played in all the different formats of the beautiful game i can say quite confidently that on a general basis the asian players seem to have more skill and flair than the white players but are lacking in strength and stamina, at amateur level you will see literally hundreds of asian players and then when it comes to taking the leap from amateur to professional … nothing! reasons for this could be most probably culture, i.e. parents too busy working, kids not getting involved in football till late on, very hard to catch up when u are 6-7 years of coaching behind the other players unless youre a ronaldinho, racism/alienation has an effect at grass roots, many other reasons but my heads a bit mashed due to having come back to work 1st day after xmas and its boring!!
Whats more strange is that countries poorer then Pakistan (Bangladesh, Ghana, Togo, Trinidad) are better then Pakistan.
Why is Pakistan worst then them?
i dont think a countries wealth has anything to do with its football teams ability, more to do with the culture, brazil/argentina are poorer than most of the european countries yet produce superstars by the trolley full, the only place money plays a part is in infrastructure so kids in rich countries will have access to best of facilities to improve them as footballers, but as we all know, natural talent can never be bought!
in pakistan there is not much of a football culture, cricket is the number 1 sport and will probably remain that way for a long time, every kid back home wants to be a shoaib/inzamam, only in a country with strong historic football culture will there be an interest in football, unfortunately in south east asia this isnt the case,
Soccer is more popular in South America than Europe and even the biggest leagues of Europe fail to get the number of crowds that are usual in South American Leagues.
Money can help form a few clubs in Pakistan but (definitely) money cannot create craze for soccer in people.
NESTA: Zeshan Rehman made it to pro level and represented Fulham. He also played for PAK national side. It's a start mate, Inshallah ta'ala more asians will break through in the future.
Oh… I missed that Pir Sahib. I know this time aroud Korea won’t have the support of referees…
But yeah France and Switzerland are best placed to dispute the following round. The two countries are bordering on Germany and should be carried by many supporters.
