Nice articles, lays out the military scenario in case of such an event. US military would be overwhelmed in case it tries to interfere. And China would be increasingly encouraged to take on Taiwan as US military deployments worldwide take a toll on its military, and make it more difficult for the US to intervene in the China-Taiwan conflict.
It would be about time, too - it's intolerable that for over 50 years a province of the People's Republic of China has managed to maintain its own armed forces in defiance of the Chinese Government, developd its own economy, run its own foreign affairs, etc. Taiwan is a part of China and should act that way ... or be made to act that way. Bring on 2006!!!

The renegade province of Taiwan better accept a one country, two systems deal like the Hong Kong or Macau SAR’s or else China has every right to take any measures it wants.
The people of Taiwan enjoy full religous freedom while not-so-great China oppresses its people, especially its Muslim population. What a shame to wish this upon the people of Taiwan. More gupocrisy in action.

My replies indicate that I have no respect for the way the Chinese treat its people. They do not need to impose their communist ideals on the free society of Taiwan. Your reply is quite ironic as your posts have always left the impression of envy. ;)
