Re: 2005, A Turning Point for Israel & Palestinians?
Should be interesting and could put pressure on Hamas to give up there violent ways as those in the organization are held responsible and face the consequences when such attacks occur.
Re: 2005, A Turning Point for Israel & Palestinians?
And....does that go both ways?
Re: 2005, A Turning Point for Israel & Palestinians?
Israel’s goal isn't to wipe out the Palestinians, try and see past fundi's words and look towards his goal. Hamas goal is to wipe out Israel.
Hamas won because they provide the welfare for Palestinians in Gaza not because these people support their violent campaign against Israel. It's up to the new PA, with help, to take that responsibility away from Hamas and provide it themselves.
Re: 2005, A Turning Point for Israel & Palestinians?
BBC stated last night that Hamas has more than 25% of the votes with only 30% of the votes counted.
DAMN!!! They won 66% of the seats in gaza!!! BBC NEWS | Middle East | Big Hamas win in Gaza's election
God damn right. About bloody time this happened.
Re: 2005, A Turning Point for Israel & Palestinians?
^ this is good..now they will have negotiate like men, instead of sending suicide bombers like the bitches that they are.
Re: 2005, A Turning Point for Israel & Palestinians?
It will be interesting to see if they can make the transition from violence to diplomacy. Or will they see this as a mandate for their violent policies?
Re: 2005, A Turning Point for Israel & Palestinians?
Actually if you look at Hamas Sem, you will see that there are more of a charity and social network than a terrorist organization. They have schools, colleges, hospitals, shops etc. They provide employment, educate people and give food for free. That is why they won. Plus the end goal is the same. Just depends if Israel will play ball this time or well more people die.
Re: 2005, A Turning Point for Israel & Palestinians?
I recognize the socialism aspects of Hamas and it would be great if they won because of them. That doesn't invalidate their policy toward Israel, however. It is more than if Israel will play ball because to date Hamas hasn't even showed up to practice.
Re: 2005, A Turning Point for Israel & Palestinians?
Aww and i thought Hamas threw a mean curve ball. Hamas i believe follows the UN line. Leave our lands and then we talk. In line with international law and morality. It is Israels job to comply.
Re: 2005, A Turning Point for Israel & Palestinians?
Since when is the mass murder of civilians in line with international law and morality? Hamas’ policy of “leave our lands” isn’t limited to the withdrawel to Israel Proper, it’s “push 'em into the sea”. You can’t put a dress on a pig and call it a pretty girl, no matter how hard you try.
Re: 2005, A Turning Point for Israel & Palestinians?
Well you thought wrong CM, the whole 'push Israel into the sea' position makes them a terror organization.
Re: 2005, A Turning Point for Israel & Palestinians?
The whole occupation of their lands and resistance to invaders is a valid norm of law established in world war 2 and the end of colonialism. After all you don't see people calling Nehru Mugabe et al. Terrorists now do you?
Re: 2005, A Turning Point for Israel & Palestinians?
Israel is a legal state no matter how many times you say it's not CM.
Re: 2005, A Turning Point for Israel & Palestinians?
Dude you are putting the horse behind the cart. The reason Israel is in occupied lands is because of the terrorists acts against their sovereign nation - created by the UN whose laws you quote when it best fits your position.
Re: 2005, A Turning Point for Israel & Palestinians?
Actually the UN and the US agree that the west bank and gaza are illegal occupation of land in violation of International law and the Geneva conventions.
Actions within the West bank, jeruselum and Gaza fall under Chapter 7 Article 50.
