2004 ICC Six Nations Challenge - UAE (merged)

6 nation tournament stating in UAE today, with Canada, Holland, Namibia, Scotland, United States & UAE taking part.

Associate members take centre stage

The strongest of cricket’s second tier of nations will be battling for the chance to join the big boys when the ICC Six Nations Challenge gets underway in the United Arab Emirates this Sunday (Feb 29). The winners will qualify for September’s ICC Champions Trophy, where they will face Australia and New Zealand in the first round.

The week-long tournament will include three teams that took part in the 2003 World Cup – Canada, Holland and Namibia – and three that didn’t, in Scotland, the United States and the UAE.

The tournament is a 50-over round-robin format, with matches in Sharjah and Dubai before the final on March 6. In the opening games Canada play the United Arab Emirates, Holland meet Scotland, and Namibia face the USA.

The tournament is part of the ICC’s high-performance programme for the leading associate countries. “We are seeing a high standard of cricket being played in a number of countries outside the elite level,” said Bob Woolmer, the ICC’s High Performance Manager. “The performances of the associate-level countries at the World Cup were highly encouraging, and this tournament provides another platform on which they can show their progress as well as giving them the essential international competition needed to allow them to continue to improve.”

USA Cricket Team to play Champions Trophy in England

The strongest nations in cricket outside the full international level competed for a chance to take on the powers of the game in the ICC Six Nations Challenge that kicked off Sunday, 29 February in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Team USA won the trophy by beating strong teams such as Scotland and Namibia.

I personally know and have played with a few of the players in the USA team and I am so very proud of the boys.

It would be great to see them compete against the powers of cricket such as Australia. I believe they will be placed in the same group.

GO USA, GO USA

^ FGF you mean you will enjoy the massacre the US team will face when they meet Aussie team. It could be first time in the history of ODI’s that a team might declare before its 50 overs are up. :hehe:

YES - COME ON USA! well done boys! very well done!

Is ANY player in USA cricket team American really? :p They should change their name to World.

It may not be the world.. but the world sure revolves around USA

GO USA!!! :k:
