I see finger prints of al-qeeeeeeeeeeeeeeda all over the place..
Absolutely horrific. However, the seperatist Basque group should not be ruled out so quickly by authorities.
Eta is thought to have limited membership but have committed thousands of terror attacks. ETA are blaming "Arabs" for this bombing and while to early to say who's responsible it's a fairly reasonable assumption that the roots of the ETA will be ripped up after today’s horrid attack against the people of Spain.
Interior minister, Angel Acebes, said there was no doubt the separatist group was responsible.
***“Eta had been looking for a massacre in Spain. Unfortunately, today it achieved its goal,” Mr Acebes said after an emergency cabinet meeting called to discuss the deadliest terror attack on Spanish soil. ***
Whoever did this ETA or any other group, should be hunted down mercilessely. Ever since 9/11 people have been asking for these groups i.e. ETA, the IRA, Miilitas and groups like the LRA etc to be targeted as well, but there has been little global attention on them.
question that comes to mind is, would ETA collaborate with other terrorist outfits? and if so, can they be getitng some help from el-kayda.
if i recall right were their not allegatiosn of IRA in UK getting support from other groups, and I dont mean the funding and support from irish groups in US, but support from other extremist groups

Yes, Gadaffi of Libya (presently the darling boy of the west) supplied arms to the IRA, as have the Irish-American groups. In fact for a long time it has been speculated that ETA and the IRA, as well as some South American terrorist groups have direct links. After this world governments should move with full force against these groups, and any one that harbors and supports them.
the sources of all groups need to be cut, I am a bit off topic here, but IRA gets most of its funding from groups within US, that needs to stop. Now that we have mechanisms in place to block funding of groups like al kayda, same approach can be used for IRA,a nd for ETA and other extremists.
IRA also has links with Palestinian terror organizations, perhaps just the trading of terror tactics and training know how but links none-the-less.
Spain assisted the U.S. with it's war against Saddam thus is seen by many Islamic fundamentalists as an active member of "the war against Islam." al-Qaida also directly threaten Spain with attacks this past October. ETA typically calls in its operations and no threat was received about today’s attack.

Yes, I am surprised that the US government has not moved against American groups that have funded the IRA terrorists, especially after 9/11.
ETA had killed over 800 people in it's terrorist war against the Spanish state upto now, and it has long had links with the IRA and other groups in the world. The Spanish Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar has now publicly blamed ETA, ruled out any negotiations with them and vowed to crush the group. Spanish anti-terrorist police have said the explosives used in the attacks on the commuter trains was of a kind used by ETA previously, and France has now moved extra security forces to the border with Spain.
Its very sad to see people pointing at once at Al qaeda , CNN , Sky , and BBC are parroting again and again, I quote “ It could be MUSLIM militants or Basque Separatist party , so when it comes to Christians , it’s a separatist party but when it comes to Muslims it is MUSLIM Terrorists.
Secondly a girl in kindergarten can see that al qaeda is no fortified regime or an institution with a military doctrine, It was just a group of illiterate extremists who would fight for Palestinians getting free land or Mickey mouse getting a loly pop on Sundays for that matter.
PS: American friends!! do us a favour dont believe Bush.:)
Sorry to bust the bubble, sounds more like Al qaeda as the day moves on.
An Arabic language tape with Koranic versus has been found in a suspect van carrying bomb detonators near Madrid, Spain’s interior minister has revealed.

i honestly have NO assumptions on who committed this although i was initially leaning towards ETA. i am no fan of wild-left loony conspiracy theories. i just have to say, however, if i may - if it IS al Qaeda, or some rogue Muslim terrorist group, they are damn stupid for leaving these convenient Quranic verses in the trunk of their vehicles. Somehow or the other, they mastermind these technologically-sophisticated explosions in large cosmopolitan cities, coordinate these activities so precisely, yet somehow they are stupid enough to leave Arabic language manuals, copies of the Quran, how-to-blow-up-a-building instructions in Arabic, all over their belongings. What's next - why not plaster a neon sign on your forehead saying "It's me, the token Muslim guy, who planted the explosion".
Why do they conveniently carry these Arabic language tapes, or copies of the Quran, around with them ? One answer is that they are incredibly stupid which i find rather challenging to digest because some degree of intelligence is surely required to plan these atrocities.

Hahahhahahahahh!!!!Ahem....
SO does that mean if they found a cassette of Gospel music they would be CHRISTIAN Terrorists…
Horrific scenes horrific news.
But i agree with Nadia that why would they carry quran and arabic manuals and stuff liek that?
That is what the Spanish government, including the Prime Minister are saying…
An Interior Ministry source said the type of explosive was one commonly used by ETA…“It is absolutely clear that the terrorist organization ETA was seeking an attack with wide repercussions,” Interior Minister Angel Acebes told a news conference.
Hmmm… As I remember, a Koran and copies of Airline training manuals were found in an abandoned car in Boston after 9/11
‘QAEDA CLAIMS BOMBINGS’
Al Qaeda is reported to be claiming responsiblity for the Madrid train bombings, which killed at least 192 people.
A letter to the London-based Al-Quds Al-Arabi newspaper said the group behind the September 11 attacks was reponsible for the worst terrorist attack on a European city since the second world war.
The claim comes after investigators found an Arabic language tape with Koranic versus in a van carrying bomb detonators near Madrid.
The letter and the discovery of the van may throw into doubt the Spanish government’s claim that the Basque separatist group Eta - rather than al Qaeda - was behind today’s devastating bomb attacks, which also injured1,200 people.
“Because of this, I have just given instructions to the security forces not to rule out any line of investigation,” Angel Acebes said.
According to a BBC flash the United States is saying it is unusual for Al Qaida to make these claims, and earlier Bush mentioned “E.T.A” when condemning the bomb attacks in Spain.
“The United States stands resolutely with Spain in the fight against terrorism in all its forms and against the particular threat that Spain faces from the evil of ETA terrorism,” Powell said.

Al Qaeda isn't trying to wage a secrete war Nadia, they will gladly do it out in the open and public.
