20-year-old girl gang raped in Burewala

MULTAN: An unmarried girl named Khalida was abducted from her home at gunpoint in the early hours of Tuesday morning and gang raped by five persons in Burewala Chak no 156/EB. Police registered a case on July 26 against the accused.
The five accused are related to the Tehsil nazim Malik Aftab Ahmed Langarial and a Panchayat headed by Mr Langarial ruled that the parents of the 20-year old Khalida Parveen accept Rs 30,000 as compensation for the act or leave the village, according to the victim’s mother on Saturday.
Khalida Bibi’s father is handicapped and the rest of the family, including brother Lal Din, work as farmhands in the Burewala subdivision. The five drunken men (Ismail Bhatti, Muhammad Iqbal, Faraz Ahmed Langarial, Ijaz Ahmed Langarial and Mujahid Hussain Langarial) gang raped the
young woman in the house of Mujahid Langarial.
The ordeal lasted over two hours during the course of which Khaleda Bibi passed out. After they were done with her, they tossed her body into an open yard near her house. After the decision of the Panchayat, the family decided to leave the village. They met with Additional Superintendent of Police Capt Pervez Ahmed Chandio who registered a case under Islamic Law. No arrests have yet been made.
