hehe okay i jsut saw this .. i must admit the combos are lovely! but dont u think theyre lacking a bit desi-ness? i mean where is the blood red and green :D
for my wedding i would stick to the roots of yellow green purple or pink for mehndi and red for the baraat .. iv seen a lot of all red brides recently and they have their own level! - in my eyes :D

The orange bouquet on top…my reception lehenga is mostly silver with that shade of orange as an accent. That orange/green is my palette for the reception…although we’re seriously leaning towards doing brown/amber chair covers. But we’re thinking of orange table cover…green uplighting all around the room (room walls will be covered in white drapery). Centerpieces will have accents with that green/orange flowers.
Haven’t done mock-up with decorator yet so nothing is finalized…but yea…this is the basic idea. 
No offense to anyone but personally, I’m really sick of seeing pinks/purples (even though purple is one of my fav. colors). The last 5 weddings I’ve gone to…every-single-one had those colors for their reception palette.

change is good! :)
but i also think that combos like navy and pink, or pink and green, could very easily translate into a desi wedding too.

Something that’s always had me curious about funky colour combos (which btw, I think look gorgeous), given that Western weddings have the bridal dress as white/ivory/cream - pretty much any colour combo goes with the brides dress - she can tie it all together in her bridesmaids dresses, centrepieces, bouquet. But for desi weddings where 7/10 times the wedding dress has red or some other bold jewel toned colour in it - how do you get the decor to NOT compete with, but in fact compliment the brides dress?

i’m a sucker for anything yellow!!! if i had to do it all over again (and did not relinquesh control to my ammi-ZILLA!), i’d go for the citrus colors (lemon/lime/tangerine), maybe accented with the choc brown!!!
i’m trying to talk my cousin out of the whole purple theme…so overdone and played out

maybe she could do a more modern twist if she really wants it... more like an eggplant and charcoal? or lilac and yellow together if she prefers pastels?

easy! pick a complimentary accent colour and pair it with a neutral. so if the bride is wearing red and gold, keep everything gold as your neutral, go darker for tone on tone contrast to add more depth (maybe into the browns but almost), and then pick a complimentary colour to the red like a deep turquoise or an emerald green (although green and red are forever too christmassy for me), or possibly orange. i really don’t think the bride should match the stage…
and on a sidenote, i REALLY don’t think the groom’s tie should match the bride’s dress! maybe his pocket square but its so cheesy when he’s wearing a plain turquoise tie because her jora is turquoise lol.

Sooo…what would you recommend? My reception dress is silver/orange. He’s wearing either a black suit or tuxedo with white shirt. What color should the tie be?

LOL @ Halloween! Yep…I’ve been trying to be careful about that…lol.
Fiance saw a tie at Hugo Boss that he really loved…it’s orange and silver striped…i’ll post a pic tomorrow.. 
But I agree that solids are…meh…
